Fallout from the RB decommits.

In the last 3 or so years we've seen significant decommits at RB:
Saquan Barkley
John Hilliman
John Lovett
John Taylor

Hicks and Martin are both gone after this season. We'd be left with only two, let me repeat that, two scholarship runningbacks for the following season with no commits for 2017. Only Snorweah and Sneed will be here after 2017. That's a huge gap for a Big 10 power spread option team. So is there anything behind the lack signed 3 and 4 star RBs? You'd think that if you are a 3 star RB in 2017 you'd love to come here and be in line for playing time for 2018.

The previous RB coach and the previous OC were in over their heads. The previous RB coach was not a good recruiter. The new RB coach is supposedly a great recruiter and the new OC is a legit professional. Expect to see a couple of 3 and 4 star RBs in the next class; guys that will have to get into the rotation for the 2018 season.

And one of them is a heisman contender with one of the worst OLines in football history (more last year than 2016), just imagine what Barkeley could do here (Ray Rice 2.0)

There were a bunch of loudmouths that were claiming Ash had the RB decommits under control with top notch replacements. We will see.

Terence Dunlap - Alabama RB with offers from Nebraska, Illinois - is visiting this weekend and Mike Epstein (Illinois commit) next weekend.

I'm assuming Ash thinks he has a shot to land 1 of the two since they are taking OV this close to signing day.

No one likes to see decommits and I'm not going to sugarcoat it, but you can still pick up solid running backs late. A guy like Jawan Jamison comes to mind. I hate to see the lineman flips more than this.

Ash should jump in and offer Morgan Ellison, very underrated kid.
Oddly enough, Ash seems more interested in recruiting NJ when I think there are plenty of gems left in OH. I assume Kevin Wilson is swimming in talent now and doesn't need this kid in Columbus?

im only concerned about the trenches right now. We need to build strong trenches, and maintain them. Everything else falls into play. The fact that right now we feel great about our Oline recruits and our QB is a huge plus in my opinion. We can always take some of these guys listed as Athletes and use them for RB depth if we need to. Dont forget the walk ons we brought in have some tremendous upside.

Sounds like The Field of Dreams. If you build it, they will come.
It's absolutely true though. What RB wouldn't want an OL that can push back the DL 2 yards each snap, open creases and pick up blitzing LB/DBs?

need to get Lovett back..not some third level recruit.

Have no "inside" information, but from all the articles I've read regarding Lovett, I don't get the feeling that RU is going to be his ultimate choice, no matter what the Rutgers staff does to try to get him back.

Would love to be 100% wrong about that since I'd really like him to play in Scarlet. But unfortunately, I definitely get the sense that you can color Mr. Lovett gone. (Probably to Michigan State, with Iowa and Baylor also having a shot.)

We reached out to him just before his decommit, but never extended an offer. The staff does want another back but are looking at a 4 star kid from out of state. I like Ellison and if it wasn't for the bad injury last year I think he would have been a 4 star and gotten and offer from us.

I wasn't disagreeing. Just pointing out that the comment sounded kind of familiar.
