likely only 1.. if I'm not mistaken, he's going to head for the league at his first opportunity. We'll have to see how the year goes first I guess.
Likely two. Devine was pretty damn good last year and didn't get drafted.

Mills sounds legit. Glad to have him. That said, I will wait and see how he does in the classroom before I get my hopes up for year two.

Exactly.

I started a post about that same thing yesterday and thought people would call me negative nellie. Mills doesn't strike me as the kid who is in school to get the degree, he has been in school for three going in four years now. He may not be the only one in this situation. Just guessing.

There is hope though. Dumb dumbs don’t go to Georgia Tech. Every GT student must take calculus. He didn’t leave due to academic concerns. So that is somewhat promising.

Never said he was "dumb" or question his intelligence.

I didn’t mean to imply that, but as I reread my post, it did come off that way. Sorry about that.

What I was trying to say is that at least when he was being recruited to GT, hard academics didn’t seem to be something that deterred him from committing. I would bet every recruit knows that calc is a requirement and that the coaches do their best to make sure that their recruits will be able to handle it.

Did anyone notice the article that we recently had scouts from the Chiefs and the Rams at fall camp? They are planning for next years draft and starting to do their research on guys before their senior year. Waiting until your last year to 'do something' puts you behind the curve.

I don't dislike Devine, but his first 3 years here were pretty "mediocre". No one expected him to have the success he had last year. He was like a different guy.

That doesn't change his (I even hate to say average) performance his first 3 seasons.

Only a real husker fan would know what kind of RB's we have had here over the years, and Devine has never been in that upper tier of backs.

He doesn't even come close to Roy Helu, probably my least favorite back to make it into the league.

Take your little hands out of your pants, go get a job and move out of your mom's basement.. RollingLaugh

IMO, I think Ziggy always had the potential to do what he did last year. I just think he got stuck in a system that wasn’t right for him, with a coaching staff that didn’t push him to reach his potential. Once the coaching staff changed and pushed he finally became what we all thought he was capable of.

Sheesh, calm down man.

Devine was severely hamstrung by mike rileys doghouse. He was by far our best back on the team his last three seasons. Ask anyone who watched practice, or even games for that matter.

Yeah it probably wasnt even Mikes decision who started. He probably didnt even know.

I feel like I understand Tre Bryant starting, as he was pretty good when healthy. But why Devine was buried beneath Wilbon I will never understand.

I too would bet he don't know. Yeah, it might very well be bad memory lane (or even far worse) but it was so recent it still stings.

I'm going to agree with the likely one year. This will be Mills 4th year of college football. If he can have a good year, and I think he will, he'll go pro. It may not be a good decision, but the mindset would be this... Is an extra year of football going to make him a better prospect or just a year older with more mileage on the tires? So a lot of kids go pro. About 50 kids who left early last year didn't get drafted so I'm not saying its a good decision but that's what often happens.
