Sad fvckers you guys are reveling in the decline of football ratings as if it was a direct result of Trump and testament to his glory?
You have pictures of CFL and college ball in there. Are you just against football or something?

CTE is serious, and a main reason for many people's change in appreciation of the sport. Prices are up, and so attendance suffers when the economy isn’t strong.

If you are attempting to highlight football’s decline (as caused by many factors - some temporary, some permanent), then I somewhat understand your desire to post threads and pictures on the subject. But if this is some attempt to glorify your Supreme leader....geez you fvckers are just freaking sad. #ccj

One of those pictures was from FAU, where I went to grad school. A D-1 program has existed there for maybe a decade, a stadium for less than 5 years, and more students and fans attend baseball than football for the Owls.
Arkansas is 2-5 and winless in the SEC, NYG and SF suck this season. Are you telling me the fact that these teams are pitiful is not a factor in attendance?

Who’s delusional fat buddy?

Yesterday was EASY money there for the taking. I don't remember an easier betting day.

And a sadder note, second straight week I lost my starting fantasy QB for the year. I f'n hate fantasy football.

Yes, I lost Rodgers the week before.

I'm 3-0 on my locks this year with the Chargers being one yesterday. Also was very strong on the Pats yesterday. So far, it has been a good year.

And yes, some people are realizing that glorifying a sport that deteriorates the ability of the brain, and reduces men to a shell of themselves is maybe a little bit ridiculous. For me? It’s money. If I have a son? CTE (and other brain related trauma) will be the reason I don’t allow football games to be on in my home. So, think for yourself....and stop trying to read others minds.

Nobody who watched football has quit watching football because it damaged someones head.

It certainly isnt CTE. Ratings were dropping since last year. Pissing off your fans by being spoiled kids has not helped either.
CTE is not new this year. I think CTE plays a roll in the ratings decline, though I doubt it's high on the list. Maybe 5th or 6th.

I agree. Many causes for the ratings decline. I'm part of the attendance decline as i didn't renew season tickets. Too expensive. But lets just be simple and post pictures of selected stadiums and make a broad comment for a complex subject thinking it is smart.

Didnt say it was new. The ratings drop is not new either. If people quit watching over CTE it is because the league has banned hitting. (Not really but I think you know what I mean)

I know what you mean and I think it is part of the picture. Some are turned off by the violence and long term effects, while others hate the "pussification" of the NFL. Again, I don't think they are driving forces behind the drop - but they are apart of it.

1) NFL sucks donkey balls compared to College ball, but I'm not against football.
2) I appreciate the message the kneelers are trying get across, just don't appreciate the manner in which they are.
3) I find the whole discussion about ratings, attendance, etc. to be laughable.
4) My feelings towards the NFL have never had anything to do with Trump and his crazyness.

I think some of it has to do with how much entertainment we now have available at our finger tips. Attendance in movies is down this year, studios are taking a beating on big blockbuster movies.

Wow, snowflake much? Put him in a plastic bubble while you're at it.
Junior Seau was one of the most tragic events I have read about in regards to a celebrity death. He was a good person, a great family man, and a great example to follow. He was young, he was tormented.

IF I have a son, I will teach him the path I followed. He will take his shots, he will give them as well. But I won’t encourage him to love a sport in which the more success he has....the more damage he receives. A lot of it depends on the position, but I won’t encourage my son to demand “all time quarterback” or he doesn’t play at all. Snowflake? Maybe.

If it was signing up to serve (although carrying even more potential mental damage, as well as death of course), I would support his decision (or my daughter’s for that matter). But for a sport? Nah

I respect that. I understand why parents are keeping their kids away from football. I just dont think that CFEs are what is killing the ratings. I do agree it is a combination of many things.

Do a search for Kevin Turner. 30 for 30 or 60 Minutes did a special on him and CTE. It was heartbreaking. They interviewed him when he first started having some symptoms, tough to tie his shoes but still really functional, and he visited another player further along who used a computer to communicate and then they interviewed him when he was further along and losing a lot of his mobility, function and ability to simply speak.

1.5% of 6.5% of high school football players make the NFL. That is .0975% of high school football players make the NFL. No evidence of CTE exists from collegiate nor high school players. An unknown quantity of NFL players have suffered from it. Yes, it's debilitating and horrible situations no matter who the player is, including Darryl Talley.

Changes have already been made at the lowest of levels to address these issues. Youth coaches must be trained in head injury issues, and concussion protocol is in play even in youth. Hawk tackling(see film below) is taught and reinforced over and over throughout the year. The destructive blindside hits are subject to 15 yard penalties now. Those will stop over time.

The benefits that come from playing football far outweigh the risks of a serious injury up through at least the high school level, and I would myself say the collegiate level. With the NFL, well, you're on your own. They get paid to entertain, and the bigger the hit, the more of an entertainer they are.

You're making decisions with only partial information.

Let me rephrase. Since only 202 of volunteered individuals were studied, and probably were suspected of having CTE, the case study isn't representative of what happens on the field.
So not no evidence. In fact there is evidence to the contrary.

That’s not true. There is evidence at both high school and college level players. The extent is difficult to determine, due to the numbers being biased as only suspected brains are examined really.!

You don’t think. One way or the other, there’s no legitimate quantification of the extent that CTE occurs on any level. But it’s more serious than you believe, IMO. I understand you love the sport, and appreciate the life lessons it teaches, so I respect that....but it’s a problem.

Gonna let him play soccer?

I’ve heard the header part of it is causing problems as well. Don’t know though.

I’ve said why I stopped and I stopped watching Long before Trump opined about it.

Anger, paranoia, aggression and depression are all signs of brain damage (such as CTE) occurring. I’ve known many former players that exhibited these symptoms, but to say it’s from football is not legitimate either. My point is we don’t know the extent either way.
