Some really weak calls against us throughout the game. That one ref was really hearing it was the folks who were courtside, it was fun to watch.

Even former Purdue player turned announcer was openly questioning them.
Yeah, watching the replay right now and Hummels the former Purdue guy was just saying RU was getting hosed by the refs, especially around their run to go up 10 with about 8 minutes left, as there were two clear travels that weren't called and that phantom foul on Cllff for his 3rd. There were a few more...

Yeah and nothing happens to these clowns . The only time the refs got in trouble was when they screwed us with time left in a Tournament game at MSG.

That was the closest I think I have seen Pikell to getting a T yet
How about amongst all the missed calls was Cliff not only getting fouled once but twice on the play where he got hurt!!

After Cliff went out we got every whistle the rest of the way. There were 4 or 5 plays down the stretch that we got calls.

I only watched live. I’d have to watch tape.

Pike clearly gets in the refs' ears all the time, the lack of Ts is clearly not because he doesn't talk (quite heatedly at times) to them about bad calls, it's because he is better (or worse, I guess, depending on how you look at it) at not crossing the line that gets the T.

Is it worse, for us, if Pike screams "that was a travel!!!!!" at a ref repeatedly as opposed to "that was a travel you blind ************, by the way your mom is fat"

I don't know, maybe he would be better off going a bit harder but I think it's better to error on this side than, for example, the Mike Rice side. Which, by the way, didn't stop us from getting hosed by the refs in epic fashion in a couple of his games.

Not only that, but then the Purdue player nails Mulcahy in the face with an elbow and Mulcahy gets the foul. Must have hit him with his nose.

The way the Purdue centers were backing down in the post is an offensive foul.

That was right after he fouled(almost killed) Cliff twice on that play

was going to start a thread on this..... I don't understand why a center can back directly into the defending center, when if he went into the same defender face to face, it is a charge

anyway, I am a bit disappointed that Cliff did not, or probably could not stand his ground, don't give an inch.....the guy just backed him towards the basket till he got close enough

at least the refs called the elbow on the critical play, we got that

Only pay attention to the team from afar now for the last some odd years. This is the #1 reason I keep a distance, not our performance or anything related to it. Generally, pretty level headed and cool with regards to this stuff, it's just sports right. Unfortunately, one place I can't control my emotions is refs and our MBB. Feel too often things don't get called even dating back to the BE. Glad the team was able to overcome and all you loyal guys got to enjoy such a great win.

Just posted this in my recap, but thought I'd add it here...

We did try to "encourage" the refs with the following very mature reactions...no, we haven't grown up, lol.
  • Guy in back of us. "Hey lurch...open your ****ing eyes and watch the game!" At which point the ref looked our way and opened his eyes with his fingers.
  • Me:. during a quiet moment during Purdue's run with around 8 minutes left, and loud enough so that all of the kids around us could clearly hear. "Hey ref! Get off your knees - you're blowin' the game!"
  • My buddy: When Stefanovic hit a big shot he wandered over to our section beating his chest at which point he screamed "FU" and gave him the finger.

I can't get the photo to drop in here, but if you go to NJ.com (I know... I know...) they have a link with 33 pictures from the game, including the "blocking" foul on Caleb.

Absolutely love this...so proud of you guys. Of course, this compliment is coming from a guy who went to a RU-WV game with his college-age nephew in the 80's where our seats were right behind the basket, a little ways up. The WV foul shooters could see us right in the square over the rim on the backboard. We debated all second half whether we should moon the WV foul shooters. Never did it, but we talked about it...a lot lol. Game was too good to get arrested! Next best crowd was the Troy Murphy visit to the RAC...poor guy still probably has emotional scars from that game Never more proud of Rutgers fans. You did us proud!!

Never good when a refs name is known.
Holy sh$t I searched for a ref thread wanting to talk about this guy and here it is. A Google image search confirmed this is the one in the same, who called 4 straight whistles against RU and didn’t blow a thing against Purdue durning the crucial stretch when Purdue went up 10. I really thought this guy was in danger. Two irate fans with court side seats couldn’t control themselves and I felt the same way. I think the bald guy talked to him and then he proceeded to not call a thing against Rutgers. WTF is the matter with this guy.

The Bald Head Alien Fish Face ref also hates us. Could absolutely not believe he called the travel on Ivey in the final minute on the trap instead of a foul on us. Miracle

I can’t tell you how many times I have had referees tell me that a coach pacing the sideline calling out every missed call is far worse than a single loud outburst. The outburst they can take immediate action on whereas the constant subtle commentary is grating…

I was at a lacrosse tournament last year and had a ref threaten to boot me 10 minutes into the game lol… “that’s a slash, crosscheck, missed that moving pick”… he did not appreciate that haha 🤣
