Did he blow up at his press conference after the game-- saw a tiny clip of him chastising reporters???

Sat near him - a very unlikeable guy.

Just constant complaining to refs, chastising players (mocking them at times).

Just overall came off as a huge jerk off honestly
I’d argue he’s the most unlikeable coach we’ve had at the rack. Has no self control. Seems full of himself too. Lucky he’s got NIL $ as I can’t imagine anyone with other opportunities wanting to play for him otherwise.

One of the young reporters after the rant should have asked him: How’s the mistress now that you’ve slithered your way out of Providence to get away from your ex.

He is very unlikable

He just spews negativity - all the time. Never once did I see him offer encouragement or any positive feedback of any kind to his players. All he did was yell at them and, frankly, mock them … all game long. All game. Just a really negative guy.

And btw I didn’t say the same about our friend franny from iowa (as much as he’s a baby towards the refs I didn’t see that negative behavior towards his players)

He did keep sending his player out who could barely walk to play. Clearly only cares about winning at any cost.

I have my doubts this guy will last the entire season.

He won't get fired, of course, given that it's his 1st year.

I mean health-wise. Dude's gonna give himself a heart attack completely freaking out over EVERY SINGLE CALL by the refs.

He was fired up when one of our guys cut his guy shooting a three, turned his ankle. Rightfully so. That happens to one of our guys and fifteen posts here crying.

That would've been a tough question demonstrating growth.

He is a tough love kinda person. Ed Cooley is the kind of coach who is loved by his players but hated by fans of the opposing teams.

I think he will win a lot of games at Georgetown.

Sorry.. he doesn't even crack my top 3 for the most unlikeable coach we've had at the RAC or JMAC.

I never felt very strongly one way or the other about him other than knowing he was a very good coach and very successful. If you watch the whole press conference it really wasn't that bad outside of the strange ending. I'm sure if we were still in the BE competing against him and recruiting against him I would hate his guts.

I watch the opposing coaches during the game and the 2nd least likable coach is clearly Fran but even when he freaks out on the refs you can at least understand WHY (from his perspective) he might have thought the refs screwed them (clearly I didn’t agree with Fran most of the time but at least there was a play with contact or at least something happened where someone could possibly think a foul occurred)

But with Cooley half the time we were all trying to understand what he was even mad at .

He was mad over literally nothing … constantly

People acting like he isn’t an excellent coach are crazy. Guy was pretty successful at Providence. His coaching style might not be for everybody but it clearly works.
Didn't work last night

From every thing I have heard it is but it was his wife that gave him an ultimatum. I'm leaving town with your money it's up to you if you are coming or not. This guy was like a celebrity in RI. My guess is his ego can't handle that he does not get the same treatment in DC.

I have some politically and socially connected "friends" in Providence which even today maintains many old school "ways". Much of the rumors are true and boy do they have a grudge against him. He screwed them and others.

So his wife made him take the Georgetown job to not expose the affair ? Seems odd.

I sit in Section 105 right across from the opposing coaches. I like when they are animated. I found Cooley quite entertaining. Ewing left the Georgetown cupboard pretty bare. Give him 2-3 years and Cooley will have Georgetown once again competitive in the BE.

Wow.. watching his presser afterward I had the exact opposite reaction.. I like that guy.. sure, he whines during the game like Izzo.. but I like Izzo too... just not DURING the games.

Cooley asked young reporters to not just sit there.. to ask the hard questions. How can anyone have a problem with that?
