Anyone who knows anything about HS basketball in VA on the 2A level knows about Martinsville.

And Brunswick, Greensville, RE Lee, George Mason, Madison County, etc

I think Martinsville is the clear favorite but Bluestone is starting to open some eyes as well. Lost a couple games early but have been on a tear since. Defeated Brunswick in Lawrenceville on Saturday and dropped 100 on Cumberland and 91 on Goochland earlier this week. Keith Patrick and gang are putting up some points. They are 11-4. Two losses to county rival Park View, a loss to Person County, NC and fell to Cumberland in the first district game. But as you see they avenged that loss in a big way. The Barons are playing well right now.

Martinsville, Lee and Brunswick are a pretty tough threesome to top when it comes to basketball tradition.

As for this season, there will most likely be teams with better records than Martinsville come tournament time. The Dogs' schedule gets pretty brutal here in next few weeks. Add in the 2 games against Radford with what is coming up, and they have the toughest overall schedule in 2A. Tough opponents are how you prepare for March though.

Gate City and Union out west (and maybe Graham) are definite teams to keep your eyes on. Antman...you do not have to keep barking about Martinsville. Everybody knows they are a top tier team. Slighting the other quality teams only does a disservice to your team. Just some hard learned friendly advice from someone who learned it the hard way.

Good question indeed. I would be inclined to say,"yes" cuz of the teams mentioned earlier in the tread. Just think of the bk 2 bk championships that some of those teams have and then to have bk 2 bk multiple times, speaks volumes.

I give credit to other teams out there. It's not in me to put another team / teams down. I know better than that. I know comp is stiff on the 2A level. I expect to see good games. I do like talk about my team, no disrespect to anyone.

Barons are giving up a ton of points too in most of those games...76 to RH who hasn't broke the 50 mark much this season. They look to be all offense, may come to hurt down the stretch.

Well, it probably will no doubt but I was just stating that they're playing good ball right now. I agree they give up some points but they're filling it up as well.

Marshall-Dillon, where are u from?
I lived in Culpeper (Eastern View Cyclones) until a couple of months ago. We moved to Madison just after Thanksgiving but have always followed them. I used to play against them in football and have a lot of respect for Mr. Dean. Now my kids will be Mountaineers. My wife is a Madisonian.

I really don't know much about that area of Va. I have been to Charlottesville many times. I've only visited Culpeper once my entire life.
