If seniors get to come back next year and play again that helps to take away what would have been a great advantage. Rutgers was bringing everyone back and would finally be an upper class laden team. Now everyone can have everyone back.

I thought the decision for spring is everyone getting a redshirt year, not just seniors?

Doesn’t hurt RU. Only hurts teams with lottery picks where it doesn’t matter.

I believe this would only impact spring NCAA athletes... basketball is not a spring sport... would that mean football players since they practice in springtime get another year? Don’t think so .

I HIGHLY doubt winter sports seniors will get an entire year back. Honestly, it makes no sense, let's be real. Just PLAY THE DAMN CHAMPIONSHIPS IN APRIL...or JUNE.. zero reason not to do so IMHO!

SPRING SPORTS...baseball, softball, lacrosse, spring T&F, crew, tennis, golf, etc...football is NOT a "spring" sport. Hope that helps Bob.

The NCAA is the schools not a private sanctioning body or anything so if the schools want to play the tournament in a month when all this settles down they will still have it, just not with the special courts in the big arenas and all. Any few senior athletes who want to go pro beforehand can, just like the Football guys who don’t play in the bowl games. Same exact deal. Won’t have a huge effect on most, maybe just the Kansas and Kentucky’s of the world. It would still be an amazing tournament, a great way for the country to rally together, and I don’t think there’s a single kid who would be opposed to playing in it if it extended into the end of May/June to be honest

Yes it does..though we've beat the kids who would be returning before. And all the sophomores are gonna make a huge jump regardless of who stays or leaves.

It would be interesting to see how many Seniors would really come back and turn down the opportunity to go play professionally, whether it be NBA, G League or overseas. I would imagine a large portion of them will go professional as the dream of doing that plus the $$ and not having to attend another year of classes/risk injury is not worth it to most.

In baseball, RU has the advantage of being under the roster limit, so if the seniors stayed on there would still be room for incoming freshmen. A couple of the prize recruits are junior college pitchers. I wonder, if they graduate, whether they can come in with three years of eligibility.

My guess would be that Murray and Rutkowski will enter the draft anyway. However, maybe the Sunday starter, whose name escapes me, will come back as a fifth year senior.

There are so many factors involved for seniors in all the divisions and different sports. For those graduating such as my daughter who plays Division 2 lacrosse and who wasn’t planning on going to graduate school if she decided to go she has to apply within a few weeks but then would also have to take the GRE ‘s; then there are the financial issues for many as most of theses athletes don’t receive scholarships and very few if any receive full scholarships. Then there is the whole dynamic of different teams now have an extra year of girls the programs can’t support that many girls especially at Div 2 or 3. So this is not just let’s give the girls an extra year ok great. This ripped the hearts out of so many athletes!!

I can see this for the spring sports but for basketball it would make absolutely no sense to give seniors an entire extra year. Many seniors would than have 5 full seasons and would totally disrupt scoring records etc. I could see playing the NCAA Tournament in May or June and I think that would be a wonderful idea. None of these seniors should get back a full 30 plus season of games but they should get back their NCAA Tournament chance. There definitely should have still been a Selection Show on CBS and ESPN tonight so we would know which 68 teams would be able to play in the NCAA Tournament if it was allowed to play out in late spring. The NCAA really made a blunder here not telling which 68 teams would have been selected. It could have easily been done based upon all of the regular season games that were played.

I agree, I think what makes the most sense is once this blows over, for sports like baseball, softball, LAX - start up games in May with double-elimination (or maybe even triple-elimination if there’s time?) conference tournaments. Use those results to make NCAA brackets and play those games out. It’s not like they would have any less time to plan travel logistics than they normally do. That way you have an official 2020 season instead of just cancelling everything

There are issues with roster sizes and scholarship limits yet to be determined for the spring sports. Not sure if they can work things out for the winter sports whose season were pretty much complete, but missed out on the championship tournaments.

NCAA is a lazy enterprise.
