I'm at home. I have a buddy who is working the show. Thought I would share. I saw them in 1988 in front of 80,000 at the Cotton Bowl.
Grew up on Metallica. Still liked them when they got haircuts and people accused them of selling out. But Lars and the Napster thing really irritated me. Last straw was kicking Newsted out. He was the only real one left in the band. James and Lars too busy whining and crying at therapy. Then St. Anger...Done..Only Metallica CD I ever took back. Classics still great though. End of rant.

I've never gone to see an act at a large venue like that. Unless you spend the dough for the really close seats, it's a waste of time IMO. Watching the band on the big screen just doesn't do much for me. Every show I've ever seen has been at bars or smaller venues. Saw Wilco at the Orpheum, and that is about as large a venue as I'll go.
Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. Two hallmark albums in my collection.

I had Kill 'Em All on vinyl and rebought it on cassette when I was in the Navy. I was the only white boy in my workplace and I had to hear something other than rap. Loved Master of Puppets and blew quite a few speakers playing ...And Justice For All. Really liked Enter Sandman, but the rest of the black album turned me off. Yes, I was one of those accusing them of selling out. As I get older, I really can't blame them for cashing in though.
Yes, you get tickets close to the stage or for GA fight your way towards the stage. When I saw Rush back in 2015, I made sure I bought tickets close to the stage. I hate watching the show through the big screens. You might as well stay home and watch it on video.
I was within ten rows. Of five acts that day, Metallica was the second band to play. Not close to headlining yet. I think my favorite was Seek & Destroy.
I had to reread where I mentioned anything Navy. LOL. I was stationed on the USS Sylvania AFS-2, a combat stores ship (supply ship). We were stationed out of Norfolk, VA. My ship was on Pier 4 @ Norfolk Naval Station. The carriers started at Pier 11. I used to walk all over that base. Largest in the world. The first pic is of the USS Mars AFS-1. As you can imagine, our ship looked just like that, except we had a basketball goal above the flight hanger door! We supported the Sixth Fleet carrier group, supplying food, stores, fuel and ammunition. The crew consisted of about 400 enlisted personnel and 50 officers.
