What makes the RAC so difficult for opposing players? Is it the acoustics that captures and holds the noise, fans proximity to the court or wild fans getting loud. Maybe all those factors. Seems there should be a way to perform upgrades while maintaining the loud atmosphere.

Exactly. No reason we can't have both. Keep the acoustics and intimacy, but bring it in to the 21st century.
There’s a big difference between century-old, historic venues and national landmarks which all those others are, and ours.
It's a new arena not a renovation. So they played at the old one until it was ready.
MetLife is the WORST. Whatever $ were spent on that monstrosity should have been used to build shelters for the homeless

If we keep it I’d like to do whatever Indiana did and work around it while still playing inside.
If it’s going to be a new one, it won’t just be for basketball or something will be added next door like the Kohl in Wisky-land.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Build a Glass cube around the RAC, fill it with bathrooms, food options, hall of fame, etc. Power wash the RAC so it sparkles underneath that glass facade, then light it up bright red on gamedays.
Replace the concourse ceiling inside. Upgrade the lighting, etc. Turn the offices into a luxury box space, demolish the press room, and make that spot into a twin of the student section.
Leave the rest the same. Don't even get rid of the doors that would lead to the cube.
Then win.

That's what I was thinking too. Literally leave the structure in place and just build around it. You can redo the concourse flooring, lighting and kiosks without messing with the court. If you can put another large seating section by 118 so be it.

But do agree with you both about the us part…as I have said for years, the “Jersey Roar” is no joke and is real.
As for Greg bringing folks to MBB games…that’s to see us “play”, not the other way around.
The Pirates played against GC at a neutral site several years ago. About 100 GC students traveled to the game in CA. They were incredible. I have never seen a student section like that and there was only about 100.

They wanted to see Dave Parker and Omar Moreno and someone else whose name escapes me right now.
IF feasible: More bathrooms, Better food options (a medium crappy Jersey Mike's pre-wrapped regular sub & bottle of water $18!?), a few luxury boxes in offices above ADA section.
Wider concourse, more exits, a few vendors selling booze & food in the aisles. Paint the roof. Other than that, leave the building alone.

The Kiosk version of that at the Stadium was $9 bucks along with a choice of drink and you got a bag of chips with it too.
