I know it's not football but hoping Edgy gives me a one time pass because both of our favorite baseball teams, the White Sox pick #1 overall in July in the MLB draft?

Will they choose SS Roch Cholowsky?

If they do that means you have Murakami, Montgomery, Vargas and Cholowsky in the infield and the WS infield is already great!

Can't wait for the draft!!

It will be either Cholowsky or Emerson... and I'm sure that they'll try to draft Thome's kid in the second round if he's there.

I was at the ballpark last night. There is certainly a different feel to the atmosphere around this organization.

Young exciting players and winning does that after 3 straight 100 loss seasons. It’s a fun team.
Absolutely, I went from a 25 year season ticket holder through '22. In '23, I opted out because of the ownership decisions that made them even more unwatchable than just the play on the field. I went to 1 game during the '23-'25 seasons and watched probably 5 games on TV in that same span.

I decided I would start to pay attention again when Schultz was brought up, which I have. I've run out of free subscriptions so I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay monthly now. :)

That being said, the atmosphere seems even different than when they looked promising with Eloy, Robert, Cease.....

Go Sox!!

Sure but Eloy and Robert were always hurt...Agree it is a different vibe. From the outside I never trusted that team for sustained success. While it is never guaranteed this seems like something moving in the right direction.

Edit, that team was stained by LaRussa, sucked the fun right out of a young group.

It is still June and we will ultimately see what happens this year but they are ahead of schedule and to have the #1 pick in a year they are ahead of schedule is pretty sweet deal for WS.

Playing in front of no Fans during Covid probably didn't help either.

Sure it was not ideal. Being a Cub fan I will always find a way to take a shot at Tony from his time in STL... :ROFLMAO:
As a Sox fan, I've got his time in Oakland, but being a Sox fan is enough to not care about him being under fire by any fanbase.

This is not a dig, I repeat this is not a dig. Being in the AL and ALC is very helpful for the WS this year. The AL is pretty meh.

I don't disagree, but they've been handling business, both in the division by dominating and being competitive and on the road and against good teams in both leagues.

I did not like LaRussa during his first stint with the Sox.

I remember when Harry Carry and Jimmy Piersall called the games in the television booth. Those two would let the fans know when the WS made a bad defensive play. LaRussa did not like it and went back at Piersall. Piersall felt like LaRussa needed to teach the team how to play fundamental defemse and he and Harry were just calling the game like they see it. Piersall went into the clubhouse and challenged LaRussa to a fight but LaRussa backed down.

Yeah, I was still a bit too young to understand all the LaRussa/Carry/Piersall stuff. I just knew I was a White Sox fan. By the time LaRussa was winning in Oakland, I knew I didn't like him. I did like him more when he was beating the Cubs though.

He was surrounded with great players in Oakland and with great coaches in the Cardinal system which helps.

All you can do win the games on your schedule and they have, kudos to them.

WS have 12 kids called up from the minor leagues so far and they all produced.

Who is training all these kids now in the minor leagues?

WS SS Colson Montgomery now has 40 HRs in his first 140 games played in major league baseball.

The only others to accomplish this in the history of the game are Rudy York, Mark McGwire, Gary Sánchez, Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Pete Alonso.

128 OPS+, quite the start to the career.
