Cheeto's polling numbers never looked better. To a Democrat like me. LOL, it's gonna be ugly come November.

https://www.cnn.com/2026/09/23/politics/cnn-poll-donald-trump-economy-midterms-vis.

Edit: Whoops! It appears that there may be a paywall for the linked article. To sum it up , current polling shows 27% approval and 73% disapproval of Cheeto's handling of the economy, whereas the polling numbers on this issue in September 2018 were 49% approval, 44 % disapproval, and 7% no opinion. Ouch.

That's much higher than a Marquette University poll that came out last week.

These posts are always great to revist later on.

Piggy: You'll be lucky to hold onto the Senate.
The world is going to end tomorrow! The pubs will lose the house and the senate! They will never win another election again! Iran is going to invade America tomorrow! My 401k is worthless!

Republicans haven't even started spending their war chest yet. You will see all those polls tighten up the week before the election. Story as old as time. Pubs will do just fine.

so Bear, you're confident...and you should be. But my question, what do you expect from the final 2 years of the trump administration given a Democrat controlled house and senate? Any key movement on the major issues like immigration, healthcare, the debt? Or are we in for 2 years of boys in girls sports, DEI, investigations of trump, his family, and members of the cabinet? Something else??

I imagine Trump throwing even more of a tantrum while being a lame duck president with no power for the final 2 years.

Him slowly realizing that its all over will be fun.

Yup, it keeps getting more favorable for Democrats

📈 Our latest midterm forecast

Updated September 23, 2026

Democrats’ upward trajectory shows no sign of slowing. Their candidates currently lead in the polling averages of the six likeliest Senate tipping-point states: Texas, Iowa, Ohio, Maine, Michigan, and Alaska. Meanwhile, the likely voter adjusted generic congressional ballot is up to D +8.9, Democrats’ largest lead this cycle.

One potential cause of this upward trajectory? Gas (and diesel) prices. We have a new post out about how rising fuel costs can explain some of Republicans’ electoral woes. -NS & EMD, 9/23/26

A fun brainstorming exercise. What would have to happen for the Democrats to win the House and Senate and there actually be progress made on even one of those issues?

A 9/11 style attack?
A meteor strike?
God returning to Earth?
A man acutally becoming a woman?

Surely SOMETHING could happen to shake things up.

1. "2 years of boys in girls sports?" It's obvious that this is a hot button issue for JinxxyPat and numerous other MATAts, but I did not know it was a hot button issue for you as well. You were with me on the Penn State politics board for awhile. There was a guy on that Board who claimed that one of his granddaughters who played girls' high school soccer was bumped from either the starting lineup or the team by a male to female transsexual player, and he was none too happy about it. Was that you?

2. I don't expect a lot of significant legislation will be enacted in the final two years of the Trump administration. When has Trump ever been regarded as someone who is open to compromise?! He was raised as a spoiled rich kid, and he has never deviated from that world view. He expects and demands loyalty but he shows no loyalty in return. So if we end up with a bunch of investigations of Trump and Co. grifting, some impeachments, an end to Trump's name being plastered on buildings, monuments and airports, and a complete stymie of his tariffs, his foreign wars, and his legislative agenda. I will be fine with that.

no wasn't me, granddaughter plays lacrosse, not a sissy sport like soccer....I personally think the entire boys in girls sports is laughable. I have to admit, I grew up in a generation where even gays stayed in the closet, and nobody would even have taken a boy (thinking he was a girl) seriously. No boy would have even come forward with a claim to play in girls sports.

I can't believe who is behind the entire push on this issue. Republicans claim democrats are pushing it and Democrats claim the opposite. It's kind of the norm in politics these days.

Now on the next two years...If I were an advisor to democrats, I would encourage them to show that they can govern...push bills on healthcare, immigration, social security and Medicare ( I'd start there) the deficit...sure trump will veto, but Dems would have the high ground...

but I think you're right in your assessment....but good management - not a forte of congress - would allow them to do both things...

Sadly this is true. A dumb populace will continue to vote in policies that have been proven to be abject failures, led by a party that has done nothing but rape and pillage the middle class.

The average Trump supporter/dumb American is driven by fear, not logic. Republicans can just bring up transgenders (1% of the population), illegal immigrants (who pay more in taxes than the average southern citizen), or inflation (which Trump has worsened as a direct consequence of his poor decision making) and the illiterate Americans will line up in droves to vote for their healthcare to be taken away, their gas to become more expensive, their wives and daughters to lose rights, have civil liberties stripped, and more government spending in an instant.

The Republican/MAGA party’s ability to convince people that they intend to help when their well-documented history of harm proves otherwise is nothing short of miraculous.

How anyone that isn’t a multimillionaire continues to vote R is beyond human comprehension. There is no legitimate reason to vote Republican if you are not disgustingly wealthy.

with all due respect, and I assume there's some element of exaggeration in your post, the middle class didn't advance much during the last Democrat administration. In fact, if data is correct, the middle class has made out better in wage increases during trump than Biden....Now on inflation, yep trump has added to the inflation number he was given on his first day in office..not one can argue that. But again, in fairness, the last administration took us to 9% and the prices from that era have been passed down to trump.

What rights /civil liberties have been stripped from our wives and daughters. I ask my wife and granddaughter that question and they look at me like "what are you talking about?"

I seriously doubt if any one literate or illiterate is lining up to have healthcare taken away. Who's healthcare has been taken away? Is it now a requirement for able bodies people to have to work, look for a job, go to school to get Medicaid - yes: were enhanced subsidies, sunsetted by the previous Democrat Congress, allowed to expire, yes: but has anyone actually prohibited people from getting healthcare, absolutely NO...anyone can get healthcare if they want it. I pay for it, you pay for it, dpic, bear, everybody pays for it...it's available. for anyone.

gas in my area is still not as expensive as it was in 2022...

Now, has trump accomplished all that he promised. NO: has trump caused the inflation, high gas prices, higher inflation, YES: Are a lot of people who voted for him disappointed, absolutely. But this isn't the first president that has brought us to the brink economically....Obama had his issues. I still remember 2008-2016: Biden had his share....and yest trump has his, and no doubt, he has brought this on himself and on us...but, he's not the first, and I'd bet he won't be the last

You are too dumb to be worth arguing with. Obama had his issues; a disaster he inherited.

Admitting that Trump’s decisions have directly resulted in worsening affordability

People lining up to vote for healthcare to be taken away, as the Republican Party revokes ACA subsidies kicking millions off of health insurance

Arguing that women aren’t losing civil liberties when the reversal of Roe V Wade by this mockery of a Supreme Court has resulted in restrictions of access to abortion, both surgical and medically induced

Blaming Biden’s inflation peak on him instead of the actual culprit, Trump’s disaster economy that he handed Biden

You are an absolute idiot with zero ability to see past your love for Donald Trump. You are worshipping an idiot loser.

I don’t have time to read everything on here, but Ned doesn’t strike me as a trump worshipper. But maybe I’m wrong.

Enhanced ACA subsidies were written by a Democrat president (Biden) and congress to be TEMPORARY. The democrats literally wrote and passed the expiration date. It’s very ironic that you are calling others idiots. See your morning education below. Handouts are not infinite, even though your ilk seems to think they should be.

  • March 11, 2021 — American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA): President Biden signed ARPA, which substantially increased ACA Marketplace premium tax credits and removed the previous 400% of the federal poverty level income ceiling for receiving subsidies. These enhancements were deliberately temporary, applying to 2021 and 2022.
  • August 16, 2022 — Inflation Reduction Act (IRA): Congress extended those enhanced subsidies for three additional years: 2023, 2024, and 2025. The statutory language specifically changed the expiration to coverage before January 1, 2026.
  • December 31, 2025 — scheduled expiration: The enhanced subsidies were therefore always scheduled to expire after the 2025 plan year. The sunset date was January 1, 2026.
