apparently enough of the Evan James experiment at PR
Yeah, guess you are right. I can't remember **** from two weeks ago..lolHe's been listed as the #2 since week one, hasn't he?
As always, KF depth charts mean nothing.
Is the OR at tight ends new?
Really doesn't matter since we play 4 guys there pretty regular snaps.....Is the OR at tight ends new?
They were down by 21 I think. He came in in the 4Q and threw for almost 300 yards in just 11 minutes (NFL record for that amount of time). I think it had a lot to do with “F it, we’re already gonna lose so just sling it” mentality. Crazy stuffI just looked up JJ McC's stats and yes, very good, were the giants behind when he came in?
Yes. Quarterbacks! All I want is a Tony Diaz two touchdown game.
Can we just get that from our QBs?...........
You forgot Ohio State's backup. As it turned out he sealed the win by NOT throwing a pick 6 or some other turnover that lead to a score.I've always been somewhat skeptical of mid game QB changes, but the last few weeks do make you wonder why, with 2 seemingly capable QB's now with real game experience, you wouldn't make a change if the offense is struggling. Washington did nothing in the Iowa game until their starter was replaced. Oregon did nothing until Raiola led them to 2 4th quarter scores. Diefenbach came off the bench to lead UCLA over Oregon. Heck had his best performance coming off the bench vs OSU.
Could be, or it could be Heck. Personally, I don't think there will be an "OR" designation.
I don't think I understand your first sentence. They're gonna run the same playbook, attempt mostly the same throws and not be much of a factor at all running. Brown to date 17 rushes 16 yards. Heck 2 rushes 5 yards.i feel like brown and heck are different enough that opponents have to account for both. it's a good luxury to have if we actually use them judiciously. i actually don't care who the starter is but this year there is zero need to ride one guy through majority of a game if he is not on. two bad drives and it should be time to swap...
agree playbook overall will be same and that’s great for the O execution wise. difference between them — heck seems very comfortable making plays (with his arm) outside the pocket while hank is a more prototypical pocket passer with a rocket arm. heck places short throws well to generate yac while hank can effortlessly make the long throws/jump balls. in any case, my main argument is both guys are good enough that we should not persist too long with one guy if he isn’t delivering. find the hot hand earlyI don't think I understand your first sentence. They're gonna run the same playbook, attempt mostly the same throws and not be much of a factor at all running. Brown to date 17 rushes 16 yards. Heck 2 rushes 5 yards.
If you can’t perform the #1 duty of a Punt Returner, you won’t be playing that position very long. Even when he hasn’t muffed one, he hasn’t looked overly confident hauling it in.apparently enough of the Evan James experiment at PR
hank is apparently 100% so he probably wore backwards hat in a meetingHeck starting
did not see that coming
You sure?Kirk is gonna ride Brown to a 9-3 regular season and say “man this was a great year” instead of riding Hecklinski to the playoffs and a 11-1 regular season record.
Edit to add: after those 2 losses that Brown gave us we will get the *snort* “that’s football” when asked why Kirk isn’t playing the objectively better QB
Glad you're wrong.Anyone who has been an Iowa fan for the entire Kirk Ferentz tenure knows by now that once he's picked his QB, that is the guy. I know, I know he has changed his mind a couple of times (Stanzi over Christiansen and Beathard over Ruddock) but for him to declare Hecklinski over Brown, Hank would have to completely fall apart (throw interceptions, lose games, etc..) but he has been good enough that Kirk won't make any changes right now...
next week he'll go back to Brown and we'll all lose our heads againKirk 4.0
The man is evergreen and adaptive…after 28 years we still don’t know the man
Hank is 100% but KF named heck the starter vs minny. If Heck is eventually QB1 even after Hank is 100% healthy, it will be the first time under KF that Iowa changes QB1 mid-season without injury forcing the issue.
Stanzi over JC doesn't count. Both Stanzi and JC had starts early in '08 (each getting 2 of the first 4 games), and a clear QB1 was not named until Stanzi after the game against Pitt.
CJ over Rudock doesn't count because the change wasn't made until the offseason.
Even though there was a "competition" going on, Hank has been the clear QB1 from the opening snap until his injury against OSU.
I'm a big fan of Heck, but I've complimented Hank and supported him when he's played. Based on a long history of Iowa football under KF, I would be very surprised if Hank gets "Drew Bledsoed."
wouldn't have believed it if he didn't say it. Adding to it, given Lester's press conference last week, I was almost sure Brown would get the nod, it might have been his way to humble Heck a bit more. No idea, but I am happily surprised by that press conference today.Hank is 100% but KF named heck the starter vs minny.
Did not see that coming and I was pretty certain they weren’t going to say until Friday.Heck starting

Really? Because there are countless posters who think they know about every decision he'll make before he does. Just read through the threads.Kirk 4.0

Do we?OR is fine. We all know who's starting as do the coaches and Minny
I guess you were wrong about Kirk. Heck it is.Kirk is gonna ride Brown to a 9-3 regular season and say “man this was a great year” instead of riding Hecklinski to the playoffs and a 11-1 regular season record.
