I actually thought Ito Smith had a pretty good claim to it. And with a State or OM player being most deserving nearly every year, I thought this would have been a good year to mix it up.

I did think Engram deserved it over Ross though. Can't argue him being a great player.

I'm actually mildly surprised. Engram is good but I had him behind Ito and Ross, although I knew it would be a close race. ****, Ito had almost twice as many offensive yards as Engram and twice as many touchdowns. Gotta throw Ole Miss a bone somewhere, I suppose.

I don't know how you could choose between Ross or Engram. Numbers were very similar. If Ross had decided earlier in the year that he would catch a pass thrown by Fitz he would've had over 1,000 yds and 15 TDs and won in a landslide.

Well deserved. We had no one that was solid all year long, just no one that shined. Engram is a great receiver, glad he's gone but you definitely can't argue this choice.

And Smith had half the Yards per Touch that Engram did. Smith had a TD every 17.5 touches, while Engram scored every 8.1 touches. Engram faced better defenses and played at a position that isn't even supposed to have a fraction of the stats that he did.

A halfback is always going to have more touches than a tight end. And we both know that Engram isn't really a TE so much as he is a slot receiver. Ito can't help who he plays against, but when he did face SEC defenses his numbers didn't really change. I'm not saying that Engram isn't a great player, just that I'm mildly surprised. It was a wide open Conerly race this year.

Ross dropped far too many passes this year to win this award.

I haven't studied the stats or anything, but I know two things: Evan Engram is a damn good football player that I am glad is gone (wouldn't mind if he showed up on my NFL team's draft board.)
Fred Ross is a damn good receiver that I hate to lose.
Either would have been a fine choice, both deserve some recognition for fantastic careers.

You jackass. How many running back have half the yards per touch as a receiver? There are plenty of reasons to defend the pick, but that is the dumbest.

I agree, Engram very deserving. He has been a great player for them and has

also held it together off the field as best I can tell. He will play in the NFL and so will Ross.
