Just to continue the positive vibes and praise-threads, I've been watching basketball closely since about 1990, both college & NBA, and off the top of my head, in almost 30 years of watching hoops, I don't think I've ever seen a player able to draw a charge as good as he does. He's good for at least one a game, it's crazy. And I know the announcers have talked about how everyone else on the team has only like one on the season, ha. Unbelievable stat.

I felt like he should have had 2 last night. I know he drew one early, but later on in the game he was called for a block. It was close and definitely somewhat subjective... but I thought it was a charge from the replay angle I saw.

Also important to note, although he DOES occasionally flop, often he is legitimately in position and not flopping.

At first I thought it was a charge - but then I noticed that while he was set and took the hit, he didn't get hit until after the driving player had left the ground. Just a second too late on that one.

He really needs to do a clinic for the rest of the team on how it's done.

Battier ended up with 111 charges taken for his career which is the unofficial record. I think the announcer last night said Eugene picked up his 28th or 29th last night.

Eugene has really upped his game from last season to now. Looks super solid out there and very composed.

When he doesn't hesitate he is almost unstoppable. He still, however, does so a few times again (only once last night, actually, but he drew the foul...missed front end...) BUT I fully expect that to be gone by opening night next year!

player can be in the air to draw the charge, but you have to be set before he goes into the air. thought he did. after a W tho you forget about the refs!

Yeah, after I saw it a couple more times, looked like he wasn't set until just after the player left his feat. A second, maybe a half second, too late.

gotcha...then ya block. I was watching if he leaned to his left with his upper body after getting set, which he didn't...

The 75-76 team was great at taking charges, particularly Sellers. I'll give you a pass on not knowing that since that was 42 years ago.

Wow...111 is a tough number to beat. Guess it helps that for four years he played deep in conference and NCAA tourney.

Yeah but if he's got 29 on the year JUST this season? Keep that pace up for 2 more years and he's got a great chance. Of course whatever he had frosh year is also significant.

I remember Byron Joynes was a Rutgers player who drew an awful lot of charges. He probably didn't get as many as Eugene but he was pretty good at drawing the charges.

The person I really hope can learn the most from Omoruyi is Doucoure. He seems to get into position fairly well and on time, but he struggles keeping himself still without moving his feet or shifting his weight into the driving player.
