does Eteva have a twitter presence. Pretty sure I read he isn't big on social media. Maybe gave his coach permission to post?

Anyhow, expected, but I'll drink the kool-aid

I can't understand twitter enough. I don't understand where Barry saw "Hes going Big Red" came from, but the coache's response is only 3 hours old.

Kid is a bit off of the radar. No Rivals or 247 rating. I assume that will change.

I know that film can be deceiving (see Mason Wald), but I love this kids film!

Looks like the perfect fit for us at LB.

Will he be available for spring ball? Getting this jucos in early to learn the scheme and in the weight room will be huge.

Article from Brian Christopherson indicated that yes, he will be a January enrollee so he'll be here for spring

His coach said LSU has been showing interest, and most of the Pac-12 schools have recently offered.

Given the fact that the recruiting season is far from over, one would be foolish to think that Frost and staff are in desperation mode and just throwing out offers now to very marginal players. My guess is they have evaluated this kid and think he has a high upside and is very athletic.

The phrase “diamond in the rough” is overused and is often invoked as a substitute for saying a recruit is really just average. But I think the phrase applies to this recruit. Kudos to the coaches for finding this kid. My prediction is that he is going to be a good linebacker for us and gives us some much needed “burst speed” at that position. That lack of burst speed is why so many of our linebacker blitzes usually fizzle of late. I think this is a good pick up.

There are no listed offers from PAC schools on his rivals page.

I'm just quoting what his coach said. Maybe the coach is embellishing. Mauga was off the radar of the recruiting services, so it's hard to know who has all offered.

Rivals only knows what offers a player gets based on what the player says (usually tweets out). This kid doesn't have twitter (from what I can tell) and it doesn't look like rivals has done much on him.

A kid who doesn't use twitter...5 star in my book. Might actually learn something in a meeting.

He actually does have a twitter: https://twitter.com/tarz22strongg. But doesn't seem to tweet much about himself, he mostly retweets his friends' offers/commitments. He hasn't tweeted anything about his own commitment yet, which is kind of strange.

This is his 3rd year playing football and first year at LB. This kid screams Red Shirt but he doesn’t have one to give. I just don’t expect much from him in 2020 except for people to ask why he doesn’t play

As a two-to-play-two linebacker, he's essentially a peer to those ILBs recruited in 2017/2018. From the 2017 class, we lost Andrew Ward and Avery Roberts. In 2018, the only ILB recruit was JUCO Will Honas, who will complete his eligibility in 2020. Mauga, at worst, is depth/special teams filler for those diminished classes.

He will be in Lincoln for the Spring.

Also, here's something really quite amazing about Mauga:

The Bay 6 League Coaches voted him Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

His team finished 0-5 in league play. That would be like the Big Ten selecting a LB from Rutgers to be Defensive Player of the Year.

2 years to play 2.

He will be playing.

The other recruiting sites are saying he has 3 years to play 2. Rivals and the Omaha World-Herald are saying he's 2 for 2. I'm not sure who to believe here. He is not listed on his JUCO's 2017 roster, just 2018 and 2019, so I would think he still has a redshirt to use.

I love the dudes that are like "That is awesome that he isn't online...all those dudes online are jokers!"

Of course...this is all posted by people online...on this site...and checking their twitter.
