I'm think we may play Randall University from Moore Oklahoma. They play in the NCCAA conference and are competitive. They have 300 students.

We should host someone from one of the Christian conferences each year and have chik fil a sponsor it. For every person who buys a ticket to the game they get a free chik fil a sandwich

The scheduling in basketball in the SWAC is crazy. I see where Jackson State plays their first 15 games on the road and don't play at home until January 9. The non-conference schedule includes games at Texas Tech, Tulane, Mississippi State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Memphis, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, St. Louis, and Mississippi. I'm sure they get lots of $$$$ for their travels.

So here is something interesting that I have found in my interweb searches. Oral Roberts scheduled Central Arkansas twice. In Conway Arkansas on November 2 to start the season and then again in Tulsa on December 19th.

So the question is: Has East Texas at Arlington (ETA) been added to the TU men’s basketball schedule this year? The answer according to ChatGPT is no! It did add though that the schedule as not fully complete. : )

So going into this week we should see a basketball schedule this week. This is what I have so far. we are able to schedule 32 teams in 2026-2027 as the exemptions for the MTE's have gone away this year. We currently have 28 teams scheduled. This is including the 18 conference games. That means that we have up to 4 games left to be scheduled. That could be some D2, D3, NAIA, NJCAA and NCCAA schools. So who knows what will be filled in. I am hoping its D1 teams but can almost guarantee we will schedule one or two of the others.

We only have one true road game in the Non Conference. The rest of them are Neutral site even though the Mississippi State game is still in the same city the university is in its still a neutral court.

Isn't Jackson State also a SWAC school? I'm not sure what the Ottawa and Haskell games do for us other than playing. We'd almost get the same out of an intrasquad game. They don't hurt the RPI but won't help it and the games won't really count towards getting us in the NCAA tournament but could hurt when comparing similar records and similar RPIs but Team A played all D1 competition vs us who played 2 non-NCAA competitors. I'm OK if those are exhibition or scrimmages but they are not. The rest of the non-con is fine and if the team is any good, should give us a shot at making the NCAA even as an at large.

Jackson State is a SWAC school. We have in the past scheduled teams that wont help us in the RPI or NET. Generally its only one team but lately its been two teams. The quality of opponents that we have this season is much better than in the previous seasons with Konkol. We win these games and it will only get better. Maybe the issue is the coach having relationships with other administrations.

So 30 games that count in the NET and to those selecting and seeded the tournament teams. This is a significantly better schedule than last year based on historical performance but it would really help if the league as a whole has a good OOC record. 6 weeks until the first regular season game, I’m counting it down.

Even though OSU is an open to the public exhibition game it will not count for the committee.

You might as well call Ottawa an exhibition game. It will count on our record, but not in all the ways that mean anything. We don't even have to play these games, so playing 30 games without them serves us no better than playing 32 games with them.
