81-41. Not sure what it means, but Essex topped 80 while playing most of the 2nd half with a running clock.

The way the Northern Neck District adopted it is as follows...

Sportsmanship Rule
1. 4th qtr only
2. Regular season & tournament games
3. That once the clock begins to run for the 30 pt rule it will continue to run even if the lead is reduced to less than 30.
4. Clock will only stop for (free throws, timeouts, injuries, and administration of technical fouls)
5. Utilized at all levels - MS, JV, and V6. Coaches CANNOT agree to implement it in the 3rd qtr

I have witnessed 2 mercy rule games so far and the rule was administered differently in both instances. In the first the lead was 30-plus at halftime. The running clock didn't start until about 3 minutes were left in the game. Last night, the clock started to run once the difference hit 30 in the 3rd quarter. I understand the Tidewater District voted against using the rule.

As did the Bull Run and Valley Districts up here! Shenandoah and Northwestern Districts are using it! Hope you have a Merry Christmas old friend!
