Sure, we throw the rest of you freeloaders on our backs to keep this country going and will show up on Monday just like we always have, but that’s what we do. The final bastion of civility and the thin line that keeps society from eroding to a bunch of roaming hoards of apes.

I’m in healthcare. Who’s holding the line with me?

IT for local, state, and federal government agencies. We are balls to the wall. Just hoping for the best

Same Here. We've sent a few staff home due to high risk situations and we aren't allowing anyone in. We've gone to non-essential treatments. IT was amazing the number of people that wanted to get a bath for their dog or something that could easily wait, especially the owners that might be considered high risk category.

I’m in the steel industry. We’re still working. Office types are working from home, but the guys in production are still coming to work every day.

No kidding. I cut off stand-alone baths, nail trims, and grooming today. It really is difficult to keep your cool when so many people around you have so much disregard for everyone else.
I'm trying to keep at least a minimum revenue stream going so I can pay my employees, but I'm having to balance that with a special needs daughter at home and a high-risk mother that I have quarantined in her house. It is maddening in the face of such selfishness.

PA in a Pediatric clinic... I initially thought being in healthcare that I wouldn't have to worry about my job. All providers in my office (one MD, two NPs, and myself) have been cut back to 3 days per week. I sit here on a Monday, which is usually our busiest day of the week, with only 4 patients on my schedule - down from about 25 typically. All routine check up/vaccine visits are cancelling. We're handling little minor things over the phone instead of bringing patients into the office. I don't know how much longer the office can operate like this from a financial standpoint.

I'm experiencing something similar. I'm an RN in cardiology, and most of the patients on our floor have elective procedures. Administration shut our floor down Friday and sent us to float in other areas of the hospital. How long will that last though? At some point, they will start calling us off and asking us to use our vacation time. The hospital is also losing a lot of money by canceling these procedures.

I'm curious who is actually staying home - other than teachers and retail stores or restaurants that have closed (or working with limited staff). I know some of the larger manufacturers in my area are now closed (Toyota & Cooper Tire) and some of the furniture manufacturers around here have closed too.

But it seems a lot of the smaller ones are still going. I wonder if they plan to keep going until an employee tests positive.

I think more likely they are planning on going unless and until employee availability become a problem or the government shuts them down.

And I suspect most of their employees appreciate it, as they'd rather get a paycheck while they can. It's a collective action problem. Assuming really shutting it down for two weeks would make a huge difference, it doesn't make sense for a small employer to shut things down when so many people aren't. If they shut down now and are in the minority, they may be running into a cash crunch right when it has gotten bad enough that the government gets proactive and shuts people down.

I launder money for the second largest cartel in Mexico.
Seriously though, I'm working at home. Got 1800 employees who are exposed to the public. Hoping that is greatly reduced later today.

Not as essential as those in health care but essential here....I am aware of a few working from home, some are doing nearly 100% of their job duties. Others still report to their office HQ where the staff is very limited. One company sent part of its workforce home in order to protect its ability to perform what is classified as essential work. It will alternate groups one week at a time while the group now at home remains on call. BTW, it is paying folks in the groups that do not report. Admirable, in my book.

In commercial construction, which somehow is considered essential. I specifically work with architects, GC's, engineers, and developers to get my products specified into the market... I have put myself on hiatus until at least May 1st. I will answer calls and emails, but I am not going to get in anyone else's way trying to hock my goods... It would feel kinda selfish to do so.

Temperature Controlled Trucking - about 80% of our volume is food products (Tyson, Kraft, ConAgra, Mars, Hershey, Cargill, Chiquita, Dole). Business is good (damned good actually). We have about 80% of our non-driving & maintenance personnel working from home although most of our management team is in the office. We are just trying to keep 2500 plus trucks running to deliver products to grocery DCs while hoping & praying that our drivers & mechanics avoid exposure.

Anesthesiologist who has already treated a pt who might have COVID-19...

last Wednesday. Patient's test isn't back yet but docs (at another hospital) are treating her like she has it due to her symptoms. I'm a little pissed--apparently the patient went to Disney recently and didn't tell anyone. And she was from 100 miles away for an elective surgery.

Since I was notified about the patient on Friday, I haven't left the house except for going to work.

I've been told I only get tested if I have symptoms even if the patient tests positive. 4-5 days out and I'm fine so far.

At work we're down to call team only. I went in last night for a short bit and will go in tomorrow morning. In case I might have it, I'm going to be extra careful not to expose anyone.

I'm not an "essential employee," but I do work at a US Government agency that permits full-time work-at-home.

I manage 15 people, and we all work from home.

I've been working from home in some fashion since 2006. These days, our agency has employees living all across the nation working from home.

Thus, it's just business as usual for me.

Software provider for first responders. We are working from home this week but putting in a full day. I actually started with a scratchy throat on Friday and now have a cold that I have been fighting with the Nyquil/Dayquil pills. I have not run any fever so I assume I am not positive.
