SIAP, but did any of you see the comment by the female talking head on the ESPN CFB show this morning? In reference to Jason Sehorn (I believe) discussing Stanford scheduling up by playing Northwestern, she stated (I paraphrase) 'that is the first time I have heard Northwestern referred to as 'scheduling up'.

As an Iowa and BIG fan, this pissed me off. She needs to do some homework regarding the Cats' football success of late, up to and including NW and Stanford at 10-2 this year with one of the Stanford losses coming against Northwestern.

Agreed. We become so tired of this stuff. As Kafka wrote: "It is only because of their stupidity that they can be so sure of themselves". Wait... that seems somehow apt on this board as well, given the criticism of some of our coaches after a 10-win season.

I remember SI footbball preview not even mentioning NU on the road as a threat to Stanford, saying their only tough roadie was at USC.

Stanford is this year's charity case. I agree with everything that Fitz has said in the past few days. Would Northwestern have gotten a pass if they had played Stanford in an 10 PM CT start like we did against Cal 2 seasons ago? NO. This is the lamest excuse in college football ever perpetuated by the Media and Pac 12. By the way, Northwestern's TV ratings in bowl games have generally been very very strong for ESPN. Maybe the network brass needs a history lesson.

ESPN has many people pretending to be experts that are not. They are an entertainment channel first and foremost matching the first word in their title. Many of their commentators are clueless on what they are covering on their talk shows. I can tell you how bad the announcers where covering the game again this weekend were bad as usual when on ESPNU. Not knowing college rules, calling the wrong team Illinois or Northwestern needing a stop when they were the ones on offense, call Thorson I believe Thorton and many more I can't even remember.

Well that was a preseason preview, right? And to be fair, NU was coming off consecutive 5-7 seasons, whereas Stanford was a deservedly ranked program.

Exactly. Man, people sure get worked up over every little thing people say about Northwestern.

My favorite was in the 4th quarter when one of the commentators (not sure which) bumbly brain farted out loud that NU would be playing the winner of the UCLA vs USC game next week. No correction was made. Sounded to me like this pair was was still partaking in Thanksgiving libations.
