ESPN is making games almost unwatchable...

Just give me a clean screen with the score and can all the other crap. I don't tune in to hear about other teams and watching a slender fake blond go thru a hoop.
COLONEL, this is exactly the only thing I was trying to say when I started this thread.

Somehow it got turned into other stuff.

I guess I should have just said what you said.

Sad to say, I haven't watched a whole game this year. Refs have killed it, commentators sux, but the replay reviews were the last straw. Even when I flip the channels back and forth, I usually end up with a commercial break. I'm too old for this.

Some are missing my point.

30% of the screen in being taken up by graphics while the game is going on.

ESPN is showing:

1. Interviews
2. Stats
3. Promos
4. Coaches

How some turned this into a political thread is their problem, not mine.

Turns a 55" tv into like a 30 something inch one. Not as big of a deal when I am using a projector, but sucks when using the tv. They should just wait until timeouts to do the split screen stuff.

Agreed. Also, when they decide the POV of the guy behind the bench is the best view and offer that for a possession before then going with the baseline camera. I'm okay with the same, boring view of the action for the entire game.

For all the major sports, even NCAA, and all the big TV networks, there is a major emphasis on "Sports Entertainment" and producing events, games, etc. that will get people watching, which in turn, impacts ads and revenue.

Why do you all think that the LA Rams were gifted that Super Bowl appearance?
West Coast, Los Angeles, Millions of People/Viewers....East Coast vs. West Coast super bowl, and other story lines that get more people watching. ESPN and the other networks are all about Sports Entertainment.....

The coaches Wired segments are bad. Was Martin even speaking English or saying anything worthwhile? I like the eye candy, but do we really need sideline reporters asking stupid questions? Why do they keep split screening the game with the coach?

I remember back when there was one or two at the most, televised games on a Saturday. Those were the only games available for that entire week, and you watched them on a local station, possibly with a lot of "snow" in the picture. I try not to ***** too much about any production issues today.
I remember those days well. Turn the black and white down and listen to Cawood. For those that hate ESPN, try turning the TV sound down and syncing with the Radio call. I do it almost every game. however i have a few issues with our call guys too, they turn a simple lay up into a 50 foot buzzer beater. Cawood didnt go hyper over a simple play... "Pass from Macy into Roby... the big guy laid it in, he has 24 points" No hype, just a simple play.. and move to the next play.

The promos, particularly for Puke/UNC 300 times in a 2 hour game (that may not be an exaggeration), are just over the top. Do they really think viewers are randomly tuning in to the point that they have to promo that damned game three times during each 4-minute portion of the game until TV timeout, and then plug it 3-5 more times during said TV timeout?

Maybe the BBN needs to hammer ESPN with complaints. I think it worked when they experimented with that stupid downward looking camera view a few years ago. There was a big uproar by our fans and I don't recall seeing it since.

1. Espn’s “Graphics hour” during basketball games is trash. I mean if that doesn’t bother you then I’d bet we’d get along great, because I’m not even sure you have a pulse.

2. Fans didn’t start making sports political. Modern athletes and the networks did that. They don’t have two sides either, they have one, and not only is it extremely political, it’s also a rather extreme form of ideology. This is a fans platform, it’s just about the only place they can have their say. So if you have no issues with ESPN but have issues with people’s rebuttals to them, then you’re probably just an ideologue who approves of the message coming from the top. Stop pretending otherwise.

Espn making sports programming political = Ok, doesn’t bother me.

Random message board poster responding to said political rhetoric on sports platform = I’m angry and have a problem.

Easy to see through.

I feel sorry only for those that want no political discussions in sports, they are screwed forever.

Not everyone is going to play the game of the elite political pundits, their way is righteous and therefore not political, but you disagreeing with it is. I don’t play that game either. It’s just a tactic.

3. Espn is controlled. They are not genuine and they are not good people. I give them no ratings at all, unless my random streaming helps them in some way.
