During a teaser, they showed Michigan's next three games - Minnesota, Rutgers, and Purdue. Minnesota and Purdue had their overall records next to them. For us, just our conference record. Thanks ESPN, always trying to kick us when we are down.

Probably because our OOC was cupcakes.... still an unfair representation of the body of work we had this year. On the up and up... give them a reason not to make us a joke next year!

Everyone's OOC is cupcakes aside from maybe 15-20 teams. In any case it has nothing to do with why the graphic was displayed the way it was.

No it's because they never wanted us to succeed going way back to the early 80's. A powerful and popular Rutgers would have taken away from the other area darlings in the Big East, and now NE ACC teams. We are a sleeping, and for now, underpaid giant.

Look what happened to BC and Cuse football after Rutgers had sucess under Schiano. I don't think that lesson was lost by ESPN.

They've been banging us every chance they get for decades. Scared beotches.

I was wondering if anybody else saw that. I did as well and thought the same thing. And it wasn't just that. They showed all three bubble teams and who their next three games were. So there were 9 records posted and every one of them was total W-L, but Rutgers...only one that was conference only. Bastards.

ESPN losing customers daily. Day of reckoning will come. Should have stuck to reporting facts and televising games instead of promoting agendas and attempting to sway opinion. And take that stinking mouse with you.

Let's see, Bilas, Van Pelt, Kreshevski (screw the spelling) and others just love the Big Ten LOL. I bet Van Pelt goes home at night and beats his head against the wall every time he thinks about his alma mater leaving for the B1G. Warms my heart. And I wonder how much Bilas got paid to play at UNC, one of the most corrupt sports programs in the country and he has the nerve to comment on anything relative to who deserves a spot in a power 5 conference. What goes around comes around and if they don't stop being an advertisement for the ACC, ESPN is going to go the way of the Star Liar.

It was, but I bet come Monday he will say some very nice things about Rutgers, which he did during the broadcast and that's something good coming from ESPN.

Actually Scott Van Pelt was okay with Maryland's move to the B1G. For most Maryland fans the ACC wasn't the same to them once they were not playing Duke and UNC twice every season. Then the ACC decided that Pittsburgh was Maryland's rival, not even Virginia, a fellow ACC charter program.

They way Maryland's basketball team has performed in the B1G since joining, the way they've been treated + the money Maryland is getting from the B1G, there no need for SVP or any Maryland fan to bang their head against the wall about leaving the ACC.

Oh and Bilas played at Duke.

Definitely true. ESPN's fingerprints are all over both BE raids by the ACC. Then they had the nerve to do a 30 for 30 titled Requiem for the Big East. That's like the tobacco companies airing a requiem for people who died of lung cancer.

I corrected myself regarding where Bilas went to school about a half a dozen posts above the one you posted.

You took your comments above on Maryland and SVP from a Washington Post article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...s-move-to-the-big-ten/?utm_term=.a5a9ae68d042

Regardless, it doesn't make him any less of a P.O.S. on his ESPN bias towards RU. Same goes for Bilas. They're interchangeable.

I have never read that Washington Post article before. I just happen to know how SVP felt about the move to the B1G and I am in regular communication with many Maryland fans.

As for SVP, Bilas and ESPN having an anti Rutgers bias, I can't speak to that. I don't watch SVP's show and I haven't heard Bilas talk about Rutgers. As for the entire network, I dunno, but as a Rutgers fan you'd be more tuned in to how their show hosts talk about Rutgers than I would so I'll take your word for it.

Yea it must be nice to get an interest free loan from the B1G, then to top it off an advance on future payouts during the buy in period. All while UA is pouring money into Maryland. Seems to me the B1G wanted to help kick start one teams competitive chances and leave another one to fend for themselves. And you wanna know the kicker in this situation, we asked for an advance but our overtures were refused.

Yeah, I think so too. I thought Greenie was genuinely respectful of Rutgers.
Not when he ran his mouth with the GD Espn announcers,
when the Knights swung a 9 point lead, and we heard things
like the guy from RU scored, and another player just scored.
I thought the broad cast really sucked, maybe it wasn,t all
Mike's fault but I don't like long, long, interviews while the
game was going on.
The announcers clearly did not recognize the RU players,
and like me could not clearly read the players numbers on their backs.

I agree but he didn't control the show ESPN did, and showing
their anti East coach bias. That was frigging irritating as hell.
He was a gentleman, but I think he would have been happier
if they did not single him out.

I understand everyone's frustration but you need to think about what the story is for the non-fan viewer and what will keep the eyes on the game. Northwestern is on the verge of an at-large bid for the first time ever. ESPN has an employee who is loving and dying with every possession and RU is giving them all they can handle. If you are ESPN-a national network--are you talking about the RU rebuilding process at that moment?

I didn't like listening to Greenberg. I don't particularly care for him. And I don't think ESPN has any love lost for RU, but think about the situation and what stakes tell the best story and keep people watching.

"They never wanted us to succeed?" What a pile of crap. When we even came within shouting distance of being good, they were here glowing about how loud the RAC is, televising "Pandemonium in Piscataway," etc. They can read numbers as well as anyone.

The fact is, we have sucked *** more often than not in the modern era. SUCKED ***. Most people think our entry into the Big Ten was a huge joke. Not "media," not "haters," but plain, ordinary fans who can't understand why a few million cable boxes excuses adding utter crap to your product.

That's the view.

Oh, yeah, and if you don't want them to show your conference record, perhaps you shouldn't be so damn bad. And right now, in 2017, despite the obvious signs of progress, you are, as Parcells always said, what your record says you are.

And it says we SUCK ***. Again.

Get back to me when something actually matters ...

Constipated again?

I bet you think the Star-Ledger has always treated us fairly as well.

BTW.. why no mention of the main point of the OP.. the thing about how they show 3 upcoming opponents for Michigan and 2 of them show overall record and 1 shows just conference record. Why in the world should they do that?

Maryland doesn't have the best athletic director but their AD did a better job negotiating with the B1G than the AD that Rutgers had back then. That lady was in way over her head.

That plus the B1G wanted Maryland very, very much.

This.......Maryland had leverage and Rutgers did not. When the ACC raided Cuse and Pitt, and subsequently ND, the Big Ten became very concerned about the lack of presence in the DC Metro and NY Metro areas that they had been looking at.

Maryland was very upset that their "natural rival" selected by the ACC was Pitt. They would have preferred it to be Duke, UNC or even Virginia. That move was a slap in the face to Terp Nation. With the expansion of the ACC they knew there would no longer be the "home and home": with Duke or UNC. Maryland had just cut a few sports a year or 2 earlier.

When the B1G came calling, Maryland made its move. The Maryland fans I spoke to were livid for a week or 2 but when stepping back saw that they were treated as an "outcast" by the ACC and the B1G was showing them the love. The AD said that the objective is for them to never cut another sport and in fact they want to restore the ones that were cut in the future.

Tim Pernetti was Rutgers AD when Rutgers negotiated and accepted the B1G invitation, not Julie Hermann. Who knows if he could have gotten a better deal if he played some hard ball. It was not a negotiation he could afford to screw up, that's for sure.

I think Russ may have been referring to Maryland's prior AD, Debbie Yow. However, I believe that Kevin Anderson (the current AD) was already in place when all of this was going down. Also, at the time, Maryland had a new President that came from the University of Iowa and was very familiar with the B1G.

OMFG. If TP botched the B1G invite, it would have made Fred Grunninger look like Albert Einstein.
