Classless! The ES FB team and coaches was on Prep side last night and cheering against MA every play. ES people I seen MA fans at ES last year pulling for y'all against Mitchell in playoffs. If I was a ES player coach are fan I would want MA to be undefeated in conf when we meet. SMH! We Ready!!!!

East Surry hay day is fixing to end if they win this year it may be one of there last against MA for awhile all them athletes starting to dry up

last Bears vs Cards title game until at least Fall ‘25....who knows how realignments will go then....both teams will meet in week 2 of Fall ‘21 season

Who the heck cares what a coaching staff does while watching a game? And who goes to the game to watch another teams coaching staff?

As I recall last year in the conference tournament championship basketball game Mt Airy fans pulled for WS Prep and also sat on there side! So it seems like what comes around goes around!

Mount Airy players, parents, and fans openly cheered against East Surry last year against WS Prep in the basketball championship. I also set near MA fans in the state championship football game and they were not pulling for East Surry. Who the hell cares that someone wasn’t cheering for you.

Ma won 33-6 so who cares. No one here crying just stating my opinion and what I saw. Like they were chanting crap. Smh

If you’ve never seen ES fans cheering against MA or MA fans cheering against ES then you obviously haven’t been looking. It happens all the time. There’s always exceptions and there are kids from both schools that get along very well, but it’s a RIVALRY! Are you shocked when Duke/State/Carolina fans pull against each other’s teams even when not directly playing each other? (hard to include Wake - they’re like your little cousin, nobody really pulls against them unless you’re directly playing them) Quit making a mountain out of a molehill.

Nope nvr seen another HS team with coaches go to another teams stadium and have chants and cheer against them. Honestly I found it s little strange.

Bearfan71 all them athletes drying up in pilot lol hope people don’t lay bets on your information both school continue to pump out solid players, I think the east loss to Reidsville has some looking over East Surry I’ve saw both bears and cards play this season , the bears are young but someone had said they are very equal is not giving good info , East Surry runs away with the upcoming game after all they have to , its their last chance there’s no more athletes coming lol

It’s the same on here every season ma fans calling coaches classless for where they stand on the field , I think theirs a lot of bitterness toward coaching in pilot because they have a staff there that have kids buying in and believing , coach lowman and those guys are very respectful of teams coaches and kids sorry some people try to start things it’s just a mount airy thing I guess I remember last season East was gonna get thrashed by Reidsville then it was gonna be tarboro and it’s the same now haters gonna be haters ma will get to see soon how much pressure East defense is gonna bring and I’m telling u those interior kids on that offensive line good luck handling that I’m sure I’m time our two local teams will have some good tight games but as far as pilot mountain not pumping out athletes is amusing

Mount Airy / East Surry rivalry started for real when a young Coach Diamont came to East in 1977 after being an assistant coach at MA. East had 6-7 really down years in the 1970’s but beat MA in 1979 for the conference title. In the early 2000’s the MA team showed up for the Cards “midnight madness” to “encourage “ East. Coach Holder actually came to Pilot and told his players to go home!! It is a great rivalry! County system vs city system!!

Just remembered seeing Coach Diamont standing in front of East Surry before school on Fridays when the two teams played with his home made sign “Honk if you want to beat Mt Airy”. A lot of noise those mornings!

I was thrilled to see Reildsville take the lumber to the almighty Pilot Cards and I hope it's not the last time this year next year those playoff games won't be quite so easy and if you playing in the 2a west you will have to go through Reildsville to make the championship looking forward to that

I have no problem with East Surry kids doing what they did. I thought it was funny. As long as they didn't get personal and I don't think they did. That's what rivalries are all about. Coaches were probably there to make sure they acted right and to get a little early scouting in. I would. As far as the game, it will be close as most all their games are. Run game will be the story. MA will have to stop Bullington and Gosnell. ES will have to stop Moore and Nance. Poindexter has thrown in a little wrinkle in the past few games with his running ability. We all know he can sling it but can his receivers catch it. Lots of drops against Prep. Setting up to be another classic!

Could you overlook being drunk on weekend and working in Rockingham County Through the dang week having to stay there in that place 5 days and 4 nights and still PULLING REILDSVILLE an excuse when I get back to Mt Airy on Friday I hug city hall realize how good I got it after staying in Beer town

Now that the game is the next one up let’s break it down. This is a game with two of the best 1A schools in the state. A lot of people will be watching that haven’t seen either team all year. Who are some key players for both teams that people should be looking for?

Cameron Moore #22 -RB ( 1st in Conference - avg. rushing yards per game), Holden Poindexter #2 -QB ( All-Time Leader - passing yards at MAHS ), Nic Isom #6 - LB ( 1st in Conference - tackles), Reece Deaton #51- ( 2nd in Conference - tackles), Dalton Nance #3- WR/DB ( 1st in Conference - punt return yards and avg. yards per game)

EAST SURRY CARDINALS
Benji Gosnell #6- TE/LB ( 3rd in Conference - receiving), Luke Bullington #23- ( 2nd in Conference - avg. rushing yards per game), Folger Boaz #2 -QB ( 2nd in Conference - passing yards per game), Trey Armstrong #5- RB/SS (1st in Conference - Interceptions per game), Kaleb Tilley #36- LB ( 1st in Conference - sacks per game)

The teams are playing for the Conference Title as both teams are undefeated in Conference play.
Mount Airy 4-1 has played 5 games this year ( 1 Non-Conference/ 4 Conference) , East Surry 5-1 has played 6 games this year ( 2 Non-Conference; 4 Conference). Each teams wins vs. Common Opponents is nearly identical.

Unsure of all the ma players , lots of East players not mentioned that are going to be problems , I would say baker and Whitt on the line men among boys anywhere in the state , all conference games between both schools identical , non conference experience East played 1 ranked Reidsville and 6 ranked north Davidson , this game seems to always be good ,I just think a lot in the state saw east losing those d1 players from last season think the cards are way down I’d disagree

Just like most games, I think this one will come down to the trenches. A few names from Mt. Airy to keep your eye on is Kandon Davis, Jonah Bilyeu, and freshman Deric Dandy. Deric is about 6-4 freshman who is not afraid to hit, Kandon goes 100% all the time, and Jonah has an awesome motor for a sophomore. The D-Line has grown a lot since the Pisgah game. It will be a great test for them against such a great O-line.

Gonna be a good game always has a great buildup , think those front 3 on east surry offensive line will be ma biggest test this season , heard good things about those players u mentioned .MA is young and eager and East has quite a few battle tested from last seasons team , gotta go with East on this one .

Ma had practice this week after playing Bishop Tuesday. They should be more prepared.

Bears only practiced Thurs of last week...Thurs to get the soreness out...Wed was a bust w/rain and Friday was day off....not sure what this week holds w/rain on the forecast for Thurs and early Friday...but the % is low
