Currently he has his team tied for third, if he sweeps Michigan with one loss from Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana they win the regular season title. All this with a young team loaded with sophomores and freshmen, but sure he’s a failure.

So you're pounding your chest over exceeding a 6th place projection? The fact that NU was picked to finish 6th in the first place speaks volumes, in Erstad's 8th season no less. But that's what happens when you finish 10th the previous year.

Teams/coaches are ultimately judged by how they perform in the postseason. Only making three Regionals in seven full seasons is not great. But what they've done when they're there is downright abysmal (1-6).

If not for a win against Binghamton in 2014, a school almost no one has ever heard of, we'd be looking at an 0-fer. Since then, we've wracked up losses to Holy Cross, Yale and Western Carolina, and none of them were particularly close.

But yeah, the problem's with all of us bad fans for being whiny and uneducated. Perhaps you should enlighten us with some data that paints Erstad as a great coach, because sitting in a tie for 3rd (currently) against a 6th place projection doesn't do much to alter 7+ years of middling results with repeated flops in the postseason.

Loved Erstad as a two-sport star for NU. Really admired everything he accomplished in MLB. Appreciate him greatly for his financial contributions to the University. But if he weren't a decorated former Husker, I don't think anyone would still back him as our coach.

Might want to do a quick head count on that, or check to make sure you have the right year. Arkansas was preseason top 10 in 2018, never fell out of the top 10 and finished as CWS runners-up.

Before the season started some Razorback fans and boosters were pretty vocal that they wanted him gone. Of course after the year they had they shut up. There was actually speculation on this board that maybe we could fire Erstad and lure him back here if they canned him. They were pissed he didn't make the CWS in 17.

You copied and pasted a few factoids from Huskers.com so now you can squeal at all the "whiny little bitches" about what bad fans they are? Good for you!

Erstad's not a failure, he's just a decidedly mediocre coach. No better evidence of that than a slobbering fanboy coming here to gasbag about how NU is exceeding expectations by finishing higher than 6th in a bad conference.

I love college baseball. I just watched an interview with Erstad about the Michigan series and beyond. COACH....CAN YA THROW US FANS A LITTLE BONE? HUH? I mean put at least a little excitement into it. If this is all you have left in your tank, it is time to move on. PLEASE!! (It breaks my heart to write something like that but %$##$%%$ I miss the Van Horn era and anticipation).
