I live in Charlotte, so not completely sure on this, but isn't the Courier Journal based in, um, Louisville?

What an immature take on things. So he leaves UK, and ends up at UL, Get over it! Other than his personal life being messed up (he is not alone there), but IMO is not scum. I dislike UL like most of us, but have no issue with Pitino. And it is a Louisville paper.

Wrong.

According to the report, Pitino was implicated in eight of the 64
infractions that led the university to be placed on probation.

The violations involving Pitino included providing round-trip air
fare for a player between New York and Honolulu, arranging for
student-athletes to receive used cars for season tickets, and handing
out coupons to players for free food at McDonald's.

The NCAA committee on infractions recommended in 1977 that Pitino and O'Neil be disassociated from Hawaii athletics.

While I have no problems with Rick, he was cited for some NCAA violations early in his career, when he was an assistant. So he has cheated as a coach.

Yes, the cj is based in , um, louisville. But it is circulated over the entire state. So, can you guess who might have more fans in the entire state? And the largest UK alumni base is, um, where?

It is true that the Courier is a Louisville news paper but at least half of the people in Louisville are UK fans and they have subscribers out side Louisville. It would seem that the two teams from Kentucky in the sweet sixteen should get equal billing in the CJ or that UK who is number one , has been number one all season, and is the odds on favorite in the NCAA tournament should get top billing. I however do not hate Rick Pitino. I still remember what he did for the Cats during a very dark period in their basketball history. I also am sorry to see that Pitino does not look well. I have no love for UofL but I do not hate Pitino. He made a mistake leaving UK that I am sure he regrets. I do not believe that Calipari will make that mistake.

Did not know that, thanks for the info, and my bad on the "never cheated' comment!

What is a newspaper? This is 2015 y'all. Newspapers went out when typewriters became obsolete. The Courier Journal will soon be found only in a museum in downtown L'ville

That rag is already half gone. It is but a shadow of what was once a great newspaper.

OP's point wasn't great, but yours is just dumb.
That's because it is too subtle and complicated for you. Let me explain it: UCLA is in Los Angeles, Duke is in Durham and Louisville is in Louisville, and papers focus on teams in their cities.
Sigh. Wrong. Always sad to see a moron double down on his stupidity.

Examine the percentage of UK fans in each of those markets compared to the CJ market, think on it real hard, and see if you can divine why your post was utterly sophomoric and a terrible rebuttal of the OP's point.

This is the type of the stupid threads that make me wonder why I come here. HOw dare a Louisville paper put the Louisville coach in their paper, even though they are still playing as well. I enjoy talking basketball but I guess sometimes I enjoy seeing the silliness around me

So the Louisville newspaper puts the UofL head coach on its front page, while they're still alive in the tournament? I don't like UofL at all, but I can't see where there's any fail here.

Sure, everybody makes mistakes in their personal life but when they end up crossing over to your professional life then that's a problem. I'm of course talking about Pitino using university money in his attempt of a cover-up of his affair, embarrasing his employer with an infidelity scandal and then bitching at the people calling him out on it. That sure sounds like scum to me. But i guess some people like to forgive and forget because the guy can win basketball games.

Personally, i'm glad he's at UL. Those two deserve each other.

I just hope the UK players are handling the pressure better than many of the fans. People are literally losing their minds around here. The media is out to get UK. The refs are out to get UK. The announcers hate UK. "Vegas" is going to make sure UK doesn't win it all. Come on people, relax. Every little thing is being blown out of proportion. There is always a good deal of angst on this board, but I've never seen it so bad. In many ways, a perfect record has made it worse than when the team is struggling.

Yes, but you did not finish the sentence. It is based in Louisville KENTUCKY. You sound like the U of L fans here in Louisville. Their argument on why I should be a Loserville fan because I live in Louisville, and not in Lexington, is "You live in Louisville".

Like I tell them, I also live in Kentucky. UK is the state school. It is not the University of Lexington. By their reasoning, if you live in Indiana, but not in Bloomington, then why in the world are you an Indiana fan?

By the way, there are as many UK fans in Louisville, as there are Loserville fans.

Sorry, my rant is over.

This whole thread is a fail top to bottom. Starts with another whiny post and progresses to UK fans insulting each other over stupid ****. We're 36-0 and its game day.is it really worth it?

Why is the Courier Journal report on the Twin Towers falling? I drove through downtown Louisville and all of our buildings are just fine!

Rick is a Hall of Fame coach. He is also a human being that has flaws. I hated the fact that he went to UL, but I didn't hate him for taking the best job available. Honestly, I looked at it as a little bit of a compliment. This is a dude from New York City and he's elected to live in KY on two separate occasions. If he thought our state was an armpit, he could have said 'no thanks'.

I don't really think that much about him other than when reminiscing about the mid-90's run and when we play them.

For the many 'Cats fans who live outside the Commonwealth ... the Courier-Journal is the ONLY state-wide newspaper in Kentucky. The memory of man runneth not to the time when the C-J was not Kentucky's only state-wide newspaper. That rag would fold tomorrow if its continued existence depended upon subscriptions from within a 50 mile-radius of downtown Louisville, and/or if its continued existence depended upon subscriptions from U. of L. and/or Indiana basketball fans. And yet the C-J -- more often than not -- treats the rest of the state as an after-thought (except, of course, with respect to state politics, where one-man-one-vote compels their attention).

But, the 'Cats and U.K. have been able to overcome the C-J's disrespect for 150 years (+/-), and the 'Cats and U.K. will be dancing on the C-J's grave when it finally goes the way of all other print newspapers in the country.

This. Plenty of legit complaints about the CJ. Use one of those. This is expected of any paper with their school still alive in the tourney.

So you're pretty sure Cal will never coach at UL. Boy, that's a relief!

Come on, boss, there are SOOOO many things to criticize about Loserville but I don't think we can list their hometown newspaper giving them some credit as one of them. To be fair, what is more surprising news UK being 36-0 or Loserville in the Sweet 16?
