Coaching and seniors need to be held accountable for that. Offseason will be good time to reflect for those returning.

There is no way to overstate how bad a loss this is. We stopped competing. This one is going to take a long time to recover from.

Outscored 14-2 to end the game. Lousy coaching and they all looked scared.

How many missed slams did we have 2-3 ?

Strategy at the end cost us. We ran outta clock and time.

Losing to Houston is no disgrace...but like Teddy Bridgewater game we found a way for cripples to kill us.

You and the others who gave you a LIKE don't know what the hell you're talking about. We lost because Myles missed two easy dunks and that became an 8 point swing plus Caleb decided to be a hero and tried to hit a 3 point shot. That's why we lost. It had NOTHING to do with Pikiell.

Jareau had the heart of a lion and our guys looked shell shocked at the 2 minute mark.

Was rooting for you guys and I like your coach, but this one's on him. You can't stop running your offense late in games, and this isn't the first time I've seen him do it. And he's certainly not the only coach who does it. Good Lord.

It basically worked though. Geo scored the first possession then Myles missed a bunny.

Rutgers should have lost this game by more than 10 points.

Houston did everything to not win.

But we did not let them lose.

Yes, but you also forced up a couple of crap shots.

I don't think it's bad strategy.

On a PER POSSESSION basis, yes, it makes you worse. But when you're up with 3 minutes left lowering the number of possessions left can be worth sacrificing a little bit of efficiency per possession.

The element of surprise would be nice. Every team is just waiting for Geo to take the step back.

what are we going to do next year when our only play is gone. Who’s going to run the clock down 25 seconds to take the game ending high percentage 30 ft step back?

Pike seemed to be channeling his inner Guy Lewis from the 1983 Championship game. Watching a lot of the games today, it seemed the teams that won close games played their offense and went for the kill. Cuse and Arky were able to tee up big shots to kill momentum. I do not like the idea of the modern 4 corners when you only lead by a few points with 2 minutes to play. Go for the win.

Houston won because they had a Jareau, a player through skill, grit and leadership willed his team to victory. We had no Jareau. We had players. and a coach who hoped not to lose and didn’t have the mental and emotional ability with the game on the line to make a play to seal the victory.

Stop blaming the coach. Two of our players (Myles and Caleb) didn't execute down the stretch and turned this game from a victory to a defeat.

Disagree for the reasons I posted in the game thread.

Not going to be harsh here. Our disappointment as fans shows up because of how things played out the last 5 minutes. Some of this is based on our lack of tournament experience. Some on the coaching and some on not being able to have our older guys will us a win. Getting outscored 14-2 is going leave a bad memory. Yes similar to our 3 OT loss against WVU in football .

Houston did nothing to win that game.

they didn’t make big shots

They didn’t get steals

it was all us

Missing wide open shots missing layups unforced errors

definition of handing the game over

they got every rebound to close out the last 3 minutes of the game. This is exactly how they won the game.

So had nothing to do with Rutgers playing missing dunks and put backs, Caleb taking that horrible 3 instead of driving on their hobbled player, nothing to do with geo dribbling off his leg

...and nothing to do with pike, inexplicably, calling off the dogs on offense with 4 minutes to go?

All of that happened

And Houston getting all the rebounds is just one more example things Rutgers did to give Houston that game. First half and most of second half they were making a conscious efforts to keep Houston away from offensive rebounds. Getting away from that as game wound down is just one more thing they choked on

That 3 was bad, but no need to call out any one particular player. It was a team collapse. Still proud of the season and the fight they showed these past two years
