Before Eugene O fouled out in Oregon's loss to WSU, announcer stated he is one of best D1 major college players to never play in NCAA tourney. Perhaps he should have redshirted, remained at RU and made deep run in NCAA tourney as B10 champs.......

"he is one of best D1 major college players to never play in NCAA tourney" - LOL

I think we miss him more this year than last year because we did not adequately replace what Akwasi gave us last year. Akwasi's game fit better last year than EO's did but don't discount EO's role in Pike's overall build. We certainly could have used his toughness and rebounding during our five game skid this year. Yes he was rock pounder/ball stopper and would have needed to make an adjustment but he has a lot of attributes that this team could use this year. If his attitude had become an issue and that could not change then better that he left.

EO would have had to sit and take a medical RS last year for him to have played as a 5th year at Rutgers this season. Akwasi as a grad transfer plug last year worked beautifully and then it would have been up the coaching staff and the players incl. EO to make it work to achieve team chemistry. I'm optimistic it could've been done successfully but we'll never know.

Yeah these announcers aren't making the connection that he wouldn't be on this year's team if he had stayed.

We are better without him.
He did not get his points in the flow of the offense with us which meant that the ball would stop too much when it got to him.
As our younger guys started to improve, he was not willing to become less of a focus on offense.
He would have impeded the development of Geo and RHJ.
To say that he is a true four is absurd at 6'6''
He is a good player but not a fit with our group

As soon a a good, indeed very good, player leaves, the addition by substraction nonsense comes out and folks start devising reasons why a really good player would make us worse. Nonsense. If he was on the team this year, he would have been one of our best players, if not the best. Now, you can say that redshirt years may or may not have lined up or other commitments may not have arrived. Sure, maybe, maby not. But if you drop him into this team at the start of training camp this year and he plays for us all year, it would have been a huge help. Of course.
But he isn't so let's move on.
