This thread is extremely useful in several ways. Gonna let it ride!
Kind of like dangling a fresh piece of meat in front of a starving lion!mole bait lol
Actually, it's just RU fans showing their immense dislike for anything Penn St.This whole thread is lame coming from what is fast becoming the fans of the perennial bottom feeder in the conference ragging on the conference program in the next state competing for a national championship.
I have been following Rutgers football since the 70s, my mother was a student and I was dragged to the games as a toddler. As far as I know Penn State had nothing to do with the fact that the University decided not to emphasize football and played a schedule consisting of Lehigh, Lafayette, Colgate, Bucknell, etc. That was our choice. Then we decided to play with the big boys, meanwhile Penn State had already built a successful program at that level. I am also familiar regarding the numerous attempts to form an eastern power football conference and Penn State's demands, but by that time they were established and if we had been in their place we would have made the same type of demands. Don't get me wrong, I am no fan of Penn State, but we made our own bed, and we are the only ones who can right this ship. By constantly starting threads ragging on Penn State it just looks really pathetic coming from the conference bottom feeder.Actually, it's just RU fans showing their immense dislike for anything Penn St.
I won't go into the reason why, it's been discussed in other threads enough times that you should have a clear understand of why Penn St is put down by RU fans constantly.
The reason for the ragging might escape you, but it's a good reason that must be remembered by all who value a FB program not putting winning above everything else and if they try, their fan-base doesn't defend it.
Sorry you don't see it that way.
They're now defending Joe in the Italian Model thread!#PedophileStrong
Michigan has an OSU thread on its first page and OSU actually has a pinned thread dedicated to Michigan. I agree the F Penn State should stop and sometimes the Sandusky stuff goes too far but rivals talk about each other. It's part of college football.
OSU and Michigan have long beaten each other for decades in many sports
have a rich history and ARE rivals...
Other than in womans soccer & mens Lax.....we beat Penn State in almost NOTHING
RU is not in any way, shape or form a rival of Penn States
I'm surprised no one mentioned how once again, psu didn't take a knee on the last play of the game against Michigan and decided to try to score from the 6 yard line.
Well by this definition we really don't have a rivalry with anyone in any sports. Since we've moved from conference to conference like a Mexican jumping bean. I guess those little RU fans still in the womb can finally have a rivalry. But us older folks will die without ever having a true rival. Because like you said we have to play a team for decades and win our fair share. Last I checked there's no way to ask Father time to quicken 2 or 3 decades.OSU and Michigan have long beaten each other for decades in many sports
have a rich history and ARE rivals...
Other than in womans soccer & mens Lax.....we beat Penn State in almost NOTHING

Your exactly right on saying " As far as I know Penn State had nothing to do with the fact that the University decided not to emphasize football and played a schedule consisting of Lehigh, Lafayette, Colgate, Bucknell, etc. That was our choice. It's not happening Madhat. As much as the most ardent fans hold out hope it's simply not happening for three very important reasons. The Institution will not allow it happen because of a multitude of reasons. The fanbase (50%) feel as if Winning at the highest level is dirty. The alumni are not willing to contribute the kind of support into the program like Penn State, Notre Dame, OSU and Michigan. I believe it was Scarlet Scourge who said it best "maybe one day in the not too distant future all the stars will align for us and we too will play in a Rose Bowl".Your exactly right on saying " As far as I know Penn State had nothing to do with the fact that the University decided not to emphasize football and played a schedule consisting of Lehigh, Lafayette, Colgate, Bucknell, etc. That was our choice. But my dislike isn't because of that, it's for something you overlooked or didn't understand when I said : "I won't go into the reason why, it's been discussed in other threads enough times that you should have a clear understand of why Penn St is put down by RU fans constantly."
So in order to make you understand : the dislike of Penn St by many members of this board doesn't have a thing to do with the history of the Rutgers football program, many of us, like you, realize the type of competition RU played because we followed Scarlet Knights Football for a long time some as long as you, some around the same time frame and some not as long, but know their RU FB history. That has nothing to do with the dislike for PSU most have, it's the way Penn St put having a winning football program over the safety of children that causes the ( hate) dislike of Penn St by many Scarlet Nation members.
Yes RU has a ways to go to be as good as PSU in football, but we must hope RU never stoops to PSU's level in the attempt to win and remain a winner.
At least that's my opinion on how to build and sustain a winning FB program.
Not even close to Bobby Orr. He would say the sameA 4 time Stanley Cup Champion and maybe the best defenseman to ever put on a pair of skates.

#2 defenseman of all time, in my book , would would be Doug Harvey. Not even close to Bobby Orr. He would say the same
Let's tally my hatred of Penn State... I'll try to do it via timeline rather than ranked by importance..
-Early 80s.. I realize Penn State has made their rep using NJHS stars and then bragging about being "Penn State" and badmouthing New Jersey.
-Learned JoePA had convinced Gruninger not to join the Big East as a founder.. thus relegating Rutgers Basketball to the netherworld for decades. JoePA had all this talk of an Eastern football conference knowing Penn State would always demand too much for anyone to say YES to that... thus preventing an eastern football conference and harming (in the long run) football recruiting of Rutgers, BC, Syracuse, WVU.. probably destroying the Nova football program.
-Then they join the Big Ten while the Big Ten was first talking to Rutgers as a backup to Penn State if they decided to keep their independent status as they did with the forming if the Big East.
-JoePA sending McQueary into that game in the Meadowlands to throw a long bomb in the final minute to make the point spread vs a Graber team in the 90s... then LYING about that.
-Kyle Brady being his infection to the Jets while wasting a high draft pick. Learning he and Kerry Collins and all the Penn Staters were allowed to run rampant in Happy Valley, had many encounters with he "law" and they were coddled.. and JoePA and the PennStaters continue to claim the high ground and talk of "honor" and doing things the "right way".
-100-year old JoePA holding onto that coaching position like a vampire and seeing the same loyal Penn State crowd that wanted him out when they struggled come back to act like thye never wanted him out when things turned around.
- and, of course, the "I thought it was horsing around" BS... fans praying to his statue, etc etc etc...
Bottom line.. its the fans.. its the Penn State cult.. they make it all possible.
Recently I leaned that both Florida and FSU and even LSU claim to be "DBU"... I think the Cult is really DB U.
#2 defenseman of all time, in my book , would would be Doug Harvey.
Doesn't anyone ever get tired of talking about this s&$t!! Tomorrow both Rutgers and Penn State play very important games. A Rutgers victory will undoubtedly prove we are turning this program around and a Penn State victory almost guarantees a playoff appearance and still we are talking about two tragic events.
Why should the cover-up talk stop.Doesn't anyone ever get tired of talking about this s&$t!! Tomorrow both Rutgers and Penn State play very important games. It's not about truths or lies, it's tiresome. Why should the cover-up talk stop.
If you don't like seeing how disgusting Paterno, Spanier, Schultz and Curley's (in)actions were, don't read or comment on what's said.
Just remember when you see this board talking about Joe "the enabler and the rest of his Pervert protecting crew :

I'm not comparing anything. You sort of missed my point. Two tragic events? Two?
Are you comparing Sandusky and the Ray Rice punch as morally equivalent? As one incident for PSU and one for RU and let's move on and play football?
"November 30, 2011 - The first lawsuit in the scandal is filed on behalf of a person listed in the complaint as "John Doe," who says he was 10 years-old when he met Sandusky through The Second Mile charity. His attorneys say Sandusky sexually abused the victim "over one hundred times" and threatened to harm the victim and his family if he alerted anyone to the abuse"
That was one victim.
Your math is off. Your comparison is off.
Wow is all I can say.
