1) We are about to test the limits of the internet as far as the digital workplace.....what becomes of this? Less travel? Improvements to the virtual experience?
2) Sanitation and future outbreaks - will we freak out over every new virus? How do we know all events from here on out won't get cancelled?
3) Doomsday prep - do we all need bunkers?
4) Will there be a bigger MLB draft next year to compensate for the year's worth of high schoolers that get screwed?
5) Will colleges go 100% online? I mean if it can already happen, why are people on college campuses to begin with? Do we need to define what our true values are and what skills are needed? It's like self-driving cars - we can 100% do this now if we wanted.....but is it truly the direction we WANT to go??

1)Hospital delivery rooms better staff up for December babies
2)Divorce lawyers better staff up and start hoarding ink and toner
3)If it doesn't get delayed, this will be the most celebrated NFL pre-season ever
4)Never thought the cure for man-made climate change due to cO2 emissions would be COVID 19**
5)If a stomach bug pandemic broke out right now, WWIII would be fought over toilet paper stockpiles

When we come out on the other side of this mess, we will all be better for the experience.

Why would the MLB draft be bigger? If they weren’t going to be good enough to get drafted out of HS had they played their senior season, then they aren’t going to be good enough to get drafted having not played a senior season. I think the biggest change may be that you will see more redshirts if a lot of upper classmen decide to come back, but a fair number will still be leaving.

I will be very interested to see how scares/concerns that originate halfway across the globe are managed moving forward.

As for online college learning- Ive done both and there are upsides to both. I would not excel at learning math or science based subjects online. I was fine learning history, writing/english, and communications classes online.
There is a definite benefit to learning some subjects in a smaller setting where in-person discussion can take place.

I went out an hour or so ago to get gas for the lawn mower (needed an excuse to leave the house I suppose). If anything, the traffic was worse than normal. So reduced CO2 emissions won't be due to fewer people driving cars. I suppose the people driving around are "working" from home.

I thought about the CO2 thing on the way to work today. Morning and evening traffic has been noticeably less, I mean two or three cars at the redlights I go through instead of the typical 10-20. I assume mostly related to schools being closed and no after school activities. Midday appears to be the same.

We need to figure how manufacture more goods here or at least become less dependent on any one country in the future

Look for a trend towards less globally integrated supply chains at least in the next 3-5 years as executives look to mitigate risks.

1) We will see medicine and certain other goods treated as matters of national interest and reshored to the US relatively quickly (or maybe just given options between multiple countries that are not China). This is a good thing. It's crazy that we have become dependent on China for basic meds and China did us a favor by saber rattling about not providing us drugs rather than waiting until they actually need to do it.
2) Other industries will probably try to simplify or at least diversify their supply chain to mitigate risk.
3) This will hopefully be a kickstart for online learning. At some point, we need to stop spending tens and tens of thousands of dollars on tuition for what is mainly about deferring adulthood.
4) THis will hopefully show online learning to maybe be a better supplementary option for people in poor or even good elementary and secondary schools.
5) This will hopefully boost telecommuting as people find out it can be done without a major loss of productivity and maybe give workers more flexibility on where they live.
6) We'll probably get more efficient in some things nad identify things that are just wasteful; this will add some to the economic dislocation as people lose their jobs over it.
7) We will hopefully have a decent uptick in the birth rate as there are a lot of corona babies.

Next flu season may be fairly mild or maybe even low.

All of the actions over this virus is also obviously highly curtailing the spread of the flu worldwide.

The biggest positives I can think of are more time with family for most and much less pollution around the world. That's just about it.
