No Naomi Klein fans here?

I realize MAGAs are told not to listen to her, but sensible people will find a lot to like in her books.
I realize you believe all this, but I just don't see it

"Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian political system and movement led by a powerful dictator who holds total control and forcefully crushes all political opposition"

Trump is far from being a dictator, he doesn't hold total control and since were talking about a Democrat takeover of at least one chamber of Congress in 2026, he's not crushing all political opposition.

I also don't see the correlation of her "rapture" in the ground or sky as any comparison to the bomb shelters in the 50s. Sure some people built them but the majority didn't. And it wasn't because people didn't want to "upset their neighbors" they simply didn't have the money to build them.

Her fear about nuclear war could well be real. Mutual Assured Destruction has prevailed for decades, and it worked for as long as the proliferation of the weapons is limited. She makes a case somewhat for what trump has done in Iran where MAD might be meaningless for a nation that views their death in a "war" with infidels as martyrdom. I'd bet she doesn't see it that way.

Insofar as her statement about somehow fascism being involved in abolition of the UN, I don't know if she's right, she has a different perspective than I do, but I see people, and this is not a new phenomenon, who want to abolish the UN because it's a semi worthless organization controlled by a security council where 1 vote can nullify everything...talk about total control.

Part of our problem right now and why the use of the Term "fascism" is that our Congress has ceded it's authority to the executive branch and, as a result, we've become a government by executive order only to be challenged in court. I don't think this is the way the government is supposed to be run. And, just to be clear, while Trump has expanded the EO use, he hasn't been the first to use them.

Now, admittedly, my viewpoint in my response is based on my assumption that when you use or propose fascism, you see trump. If that's not the case than some of my comments might not make sense.

But nobody else was responding..didn't want to leave you hanging
