Just rewatched the LSU game to try to cheer myself up. Watching the difference in that game and the last three that we've played finally jogged my memory of watching EMCC play in years' past. Scooba Tech doesn't have tight ends and runs 1-back or 0-back sets on every play. The offense itself is simple but is tough to defend when done properly.
The biggest factor that makes EMCC successful with it (besides DI drop-downs) is having a quarterback that can make quick decisions and get the ball out of his hands in under four seconds. They need to be able to throw with anticipation and not be afraid to take off and run if nothing is open. It's about hitting spots where the receivers are supposed to be and not necessarily and not where they are, much like Spurrier's Fun-N-Gun.
I believe it will eventually work on a more consistent basis, but change is hard under the best of circumstances - let alone when we basically had no offseason training. I was hoping with all the changes in the offseason that we would be 1-3 through four SEC games to start the year, but the LSU game got my hopes sky high. Also, we could recruit EMCC more effectively than TSUN since the offense is essentially the same.
