Technically, they didn't tell him he would qualify at NU. Blades was told that NU had a plan for him to follow where he could be eligible if he followed it, but probably eligible for a academic redshirt if he fell short. Very similar to what NU did for Maurice Washington this year. There was a point where it was realized that he wouldn't be a full qualifier. Blades wouldn't have qualified anywhere, but I don't fault NU for trying to get him in here any way possible. They were upfront with him.
They just picked up Brian Addison the former ucla commit too.. nice couple of hauls.. NU was in on him after he left ucla.. was short lived
Don’t think he ever had interest in NU, just Donte Williams.
I'm not sure why we're ever butthurt by these kids not falling in love with NU just for the sake of it. The kids who have verballed mostly wouldn't be here if Frost wasn't here, and that's about how it's been for the past several coaches.
Hell Frazier and Peter would have never been here if TO wasn't here.
