I've got two more games of 6U coach pitch left for the season. Going to mix in some changeups and see it how goes tonight.
On a more serious note, I've had a great group of parents this year. I've got a solid group who knows their kid suck and knows exactly why they play outfield 2 out of the 3 innings each game.
Being on the adult side of things for the first time has been pretty eye opening. I have 3 kids who we can tell something and they get it and retain most of it. I have 7 other kids who need to be instructed on what to do before every pitch. We had an unassisted double play turned on us the other night. Bases loaded (no outs) and our hitter grounds a ball to third base. Third basemen was a good player, charged it, scooped it up, and beat our runner home for the force out. Nice play. He then, at the instructions of his yelling fan base, runs to third and gets the force out at third too cause our runner on second base was hanging out with the guy who started on first. He didn't even know the play had happened. The good news, is that we still scored our maximum of 5 runs after to salvage the inning.
I put him in RF next inning beside me (we get two coaches in the field) and he asked me how come he never gets to play first base. I just kinda chuckled and said maybe later in the season.
Makes me wish I had video of the dumb **** I did playing tball back in the day. I bet that would be pretty fun to go back and watch some of those games.

Thanks for sharing this. I have refused to coach kid ball for the last 15 years. It's just too painful and 80% of kids and parents are disappointed.
When I was kid I couldn't pitch worth a damn, but I had a canon for an arm so I played Centerfield. I could throw it within a foot of catcher every time. And that's what I did EVERY TIME, because I never paid close enough attention during the game to know where I was supposed to be throwing the ball.
I have a few players who don't even look at me (or my hand with the ball in it) when I start to pitch. I have to stop myself mid-throw and re-focus their attention on the projectile I'm about to launch near them.
That would be pretty hilarious to see. I sure hope your catcher was paying more attention than your were!

The catcher was always ready. He was a stud and often ended up throwing somebody out on the play who might have overrun a base or took a chance on getting to the next one.

Each kid had to play a minimum of 1 quarter and they urged coaches to play each kid more than that. Most of my time was spent trying to keep the kids from having Gatorade fights on the bench. Only had one problem with a parent. He walked over to the bench during the game and asked if his daughter was injured. I was very confused and said not that I know of. “Then why isn’t she playing!”. I replied, “1: I guess I lost track of how much each of the 10 kids has played, and 2: I asked you to help at the beginning of the season and you said no. Next year, you can be a head coach.”
He never complained again. I enjoyed it, but was glad when the season was over. 5 years old is too soon for some to play organized sports.

Head coach of 7-8 Coach Pitch myself. I have a good group of Dads that are helping me too. I am very thankful, I’m not pitching in games. I hit my son, regularly in the back yard before season started.
Monday night we got run ruled in the 4th inning. It was also a shut out. In our league we play 4 outfielders if we have 10 on a team.
Batting went like this: 1st- ground out, base hit, base hit, pop fly/ double play. 2nd- K, ground out, K. 3rd- K,K,K.
They scored 7 in B3. Run rule for that inning. I was like Ok, We got top of order back up, now let’s get some runs, boys!!!! Nope 14 runs by the 4th gets game run rule enacted.
For some reason I, was just a bit upset and dejected after game.
Asked the boys at practice yesterday “What happened last night?” Responses were: we didn’t hit the ball. We didn’t catch balls or get outs, and we didn’t play as a team. Well, at least they know why we got embarrassed!

Coached t-ball one year. We had a little girl on the team who was not a very good player, but she really wanted to be there. One of the Dads - father of (in his mind) a future hall of fame Pro player - Told me, "If you will ride her *** like a pony, she will quit." I had a mother sit in the first base line bleachers and curse her son for not hitting the wway his father taught him.

Do y’all only get to hit pitching? Or do you get some hacks off the tee if they get 3 swinging strikes on pitches? We get two tee hacks to put a ball in play after 3 against pitching. We are 6u too.
Had my pitcher run off the mound crying during middle of the inning tonight. Fun stuff.
I’ve coached a few girls soccer teams and several junior tennis teams several years ago but the worst thing was one season of 4 and under soccer. That was a nightmare, there was no sport being played. It was babysitting. The best thing they could have done was put a fence around the field, that would have made it somewhat bearable.
Yeah, 6u last year they could hit off tee after 3 strikes. This year only get to hit pitching or be out. On top of run rules, they also have a 1hr and 10 minute time limit or 5 innings. Don’t see how we will ever play 5.
We are currently 1-2 and playing on the road tomorrow night. First time on grass and dirt. Our fields are turf on infield. Ball gonna bounce different much differently. Hope they don’t get a rising grounder to the face off the edge of the dirt.

We're playing Missouri this weekend. People are just taking it out on missouridawg at the moment.
