Did anyone else notice EJ limping last night? I can't recall at what point it happened but he seemed to be limping around and also got popped in the mouth once.

I didnt listen to any post game.

TIA

I saw NR limping

Also Cal said Ashton's leg is hurting. Hopefully we get fully healthy during NCAA tourney run.

Yeah, Ashton had an MRI. Talk about scary, but Cal said it's a strain, but it's really bothering him. Amazing we controlled that game from start to finish with Ashton a little gimpy, Nick a little rusty and a few not playing very well out of just 9 guys. I think we would have beaten KU by 30 and Dook by 20. Talk about an ugly game that didn't impress. KU 28 TOs LOL and most were unforced. What do you say @Nooneputsbabyinacorner? That was embarrassing because Dook didn't look all that strong. KU looked like the ball was covered in grease.

Hold on, Ashton had MRI? On what?

EJ- kind of put 2 and 2 together as he only played 14 minutes.

I saw EJ limping a little right after he got a shot in the chops....wasn't the same after that

still disappointed in him. not many rebounds, missed 2 free throws, and several easy shots
he has got to improve.....did see some help from Richards

I thought he did alright now considering he was playing injured, he hustled didn’t commit any stupid and-1 fouls and he had a few nice looking shots that he just didn’t get to rolled in and defensively did what we needed to do.

Sure we need more but all in all didn’t think it was too bad.

I agree. We played terrible. But to be fair we scored 66, they scored 68. Kentucky scored 69 to MSU's 62. So all four teams played ugly basketball. So at least be honest with your criticism.

Michigan St. is a hard nosed team to play. As others have pointed out we will be fine as the seclude is easer for a few games. I am just glad we won and not no real bad injuries.

UK & MSU would’ve dog walked KU and Puke.

Your game was really hard to watch. Ours was low scoring but played a lot cleaner and just had a better understanding on what was going on.

Our offense may have not been at mid-season form but we had 9 turnovers....9. Kansas had 28?

One is uglier than the other.

Now I will say I asked myself these questions last night:

Is Kansas so good that they can nearly win a game where they have 28 TOs against a Top 5 team?

Is Duke just not that good that they don't win by 10-15 when they turnover a team 28 times?

Or are they both good but just sloppy early season game?

I lean towards the latter...but we played much better than KU last night.

Not all ugly basketball is created equal. Your team turned it 28 times and duke looked like ***. That game was ugly Bc of terrible play. Our game was ugly Bc of the number of fouls and fts. Not Bc the cats played bad.

It’s been said EJ needs to get in better shape. Baffling. Guess he pulled a leg muscle running hard. Reminding me of Randolf Morris. Talented but goes 3/4 speed a lot.

EJ looks to lack strength in his lower body. It may contribute to why he looks so stiff when he moves and is always leaning forward and off-balance. Never see him bend at the knees. I started doing that in my late 30's when back problems became a thing.

That 4-5 position is notorious for lower back issues among players.

I don't know if it's because he has added more muscle or what the issue is but I think Montgomery looked a lot more explosive last year. Last night Hagans threw a lob to him that I thought was a for sure dunk but he came down with it and tried a right handed layup on the other side and I think he got fouled. Last year I think that is a for sure dunk!

Agreed. Ugly comes in many forms. But you cannot say that the way each team played yesterday, will be the same way that each team will play in March.

I’ll be honest. Neither Duke or KU played with the defensive intensity of MSU and UK. Your team looked awful.

UK was the King last night. And a lot of the media took notice.

EJ does that all the time but he will be fine . I have noticed that hitch in his step many times by the end of the game and I even started a thread about it last febuary . I am not sure WTF it is about but it is there . Even if he has something minor we literally play no one til mid December ( Ohio St) . So let anyone who is dinged sit a few games though I don't think anyone needs to really.

No but your team has the lowest ceiling of the 4 teams and if a team is turnover prone that usually lasts the entire season. I’ll add that kU likely won’t be in the tournament Bc of ncaa rules violations.

You lost me at each point highlighted in red. Also, Kentucky had 15 turnovers in their first game last year. Did that improve?

15 turnovers is a far cry from 28 and we had all freshman last year. WE had 15 in game 1 and averaged 10 per game on the year. What KU gonna improve from 28 to 20?? Your team has lots of upperclassmen meaning it has a lower ceiling.

As for the rules violations KU will self impose a post season ban or the ncaa will hit them harder. I don’t know how you idiots don’t get this. Your team was in federal wiretaps cheating big time. KU is going to get severe punishment. But keep living in la la land.

That's comparing apples to hammers. I think Mich St.'s defense will show to be much stronger then Dooks this year. Plus we are a young team that as usual will get much better as we go. KU, Mich St are veteran teams. We lead the entire game and every time they made a run we answered to keep them at arm's length. KU couldn't hold onto the ball to save their life. Their vets looked like lost newbies. Now don't get me wrong Dook didn't look much better. It looked like 2 bad teams going at it and whoever had the ball last would win. To be fair to Mich St we are supposed to be one of the best defensive teams in the country this year and they are pretty strong themselves.

If you're being honest with yourself KU or Dook both would have been crushed last night if either played UK or Mich St. If you watched both games that is easy to see.

On the road or at home if they have 28 turnovers and shoot 61% from the free throw line very often, you can bet the losses will pile up.

We have cupcake city coming up. Even if we play Sestina in the post, rest up the injured players for a week or so. We have enough players to win easily for a few weeks

Sorry we took grief last year for stinking up the place with dook so yes you suck and right now stat wise you’re not even top 25 worthy. While you’re in the corner pray for improvement. :)

KU will be better once Azubuike and De Sousa shake off the rust. Remember that both guys have missed a lot of time. It takes time to get back into the groove after sitting for so long.

We'll see. If we advance in Maui and MSU does, we'll meet in the title game. Don't act like Kentucky is so young. You've got 1. Richards, 2. Sestina, 3. Hagans, 4. Montgomery and 5. Quickley all returners. We have 1. Dok, 2. SDS (both haven't played in over a year), 3. McCormack, 4. Dotson and 5. Garrett. Your returners were 5 stars, ours weren't.

Know how players will act hurt right after they screw up or play bad? Yeah.... if I said which part of EJ was injured I’d get a ban so I’ll keep it to myself.

he’s fine. He didn’t play a bunch of minutes because we couldn’t afford to keep playing 4 on 5.
