Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger considers Saturday’s performance at West Virginia to be one of the worst he has had since his freshman season. But he also pointed out that it would have been considered a great performance at that stage of his career.
“He told me ‘That’s maybe my worst game in last 10-15 games,” said Texas coach Tom Herman. “‘And we’d have been begging for a game like that my freshman year.'”
Ehlinger was 18-of-33 for 211 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, but misfired on several easy throws on sideline routes. He also was fortunate that the Mountaineers didn’t come away with two more interceptions on a couple of his misses that drifted into interceptable range.
