I doubt he’s ready. McCaffrey isn’t and he’s had a lot more time here.

It doesn't count toward his eligibility, why not.

Its pretty clear Mario V. is not a quarterback whisperer. More like the quarterback killer.

Mario V's name should not be mentioned. All falls on Scott Frost at this point.

Why do we have quarterbacks on the roster who can't throw? That's literally the whole point of the quarterback position.

I will never understand why our team always looks so unprepared. Other teams, even bad ones, manage to do the most basic aspects of game without issue. We have trouble snapping the ball. What the hell explains this? We as fans call for young players to get on the field assuming that it couldn't possibly be any worse. Thing is it can, and it frequently is worse. Teams like Illinois shuffle in players and they perform as if they know what they're doing. We do the same and it looks like comedy routine, only I'm not laughing.

Head man has no clue what he's doing. Sad to say it but it's becoming more and more apparent with each game that gets played.

Martinez is better than McCaffrey imo. Need someone that can really throw in this era.

I used to hate it when Callahan was constantly shifting his backfield. now I see Frost putting two and three guys into motion presnap. Who are we kidding?

I could see a bulked up Luke follow in his brother’s footsteps as an NFL running back, but he can’t spin the frickin ball. So unless we run an offense with limited passing that can tolerate a shot putter like Frost was, I can’t see how he will ever be successful here.

It wasn’t the whole point with Frazier and Frost neither of whom was an exceptional passer. But obviously this offense seems to require a good passer -- although I am not even sure what this offense is.

As long as don’t ever see Martinez again. Luke is our only hope.
It appeared to me on that last drive that AM is the only QB who has any shot of completing a pass over 10 yards down the field. I'm ready for Matt Masker to get a shot. We need to find a QB who can accurately deliver a pass on time and on target.

I'd like to see Smothers as well. Kid played HS football in Alabama so he's seen top tier talent.

Wasn’t a fan Smothers film, but I had hoped that Frost and Verduzco could fix some things. Sadly, it’s become apparent they aren’t the QB whisperers they were billed to be, so I’m not holding out hope Smothers is going to be any better than LM.
Of Smothers 7 scholarship offers, Austin Peay, UAB, Southern Miss, Troy, Louisville, and Ole Miss were his options outside of Nebraska.

Exactly. He’s not the savior. Sean and crew keep hyping a kid from OU, Texas, Florida, Alabama, but yet none of the in- state or local schools offer the kids we do 😴. Should be telling. Granted, it’s not like we’re going to out recruit a top 20 program that offers a kid. Maybe 1 every few years.

No way to know what offers were made. He was quoted sometime beginning of his JR. Year right after his Ole Miss offer that he was done posting anymore offers & he was 100% sticking with us (& Coach Frost/Coach Verdu) and would not take any official visits except the one he would take to Nebraska. I always admired him for that. I told my son about it & used it as an example about what commitment meant and how it’s more than just being about you (he is a young athlete). It was reported during his senior year that Ole Miss, Auburn, FSU, Ga Tech, NC, OHio st, Kentucky were still trying to flip him but he held true to his word about us being the only official visit. Ga tech & FSU has started both of their 2020 QB’s. I’m sure Smothers has seen that and it has crossed his mind while standing on the sidelines for us right now.

Rivals shows an Ohio State offer and a 4* ranking. Kid was committed to NU since he was unheard of early in his junior year.

Who care?, This is the year to get reps. No championship, no year takin away, get the freaking young guns out there now.
I somewhat agree. His year isn’t going to count towards eligibility. But I wonder how much mental damage it could cause if he gets picked off 5 times a game. Then we have 3 ****** QBs with mental issues.
