The clown show continues.
I know this is a cliche' thing to say right now but IMO it's so true. How many guys like Edwards have come through here in the last several years, given you a few good games and almost nothing else, then bolt to the draft? This is NO WAY to build a program. It's asinine IMO because you can go out and get a proven college player through the portal rather than bringing in an unknown.

He's way better than Livingston lol. I get the revolving door sucks but let's not invent things. He got off to a slow start but was able to recover for some huge performances. He's a normal freshman but with huge upside, I think he'll be a good one in the NBA.

If anything I'm stoked he anounced it firmly and quickly and didn't leave us hanging, much respect for that.
The NBA requires that you be able to dribble, pass, shoot, finish at the rim and defend. Good luck in Kathmandu!

That missed dunk against Oakland happened for a couple of reasons IMO. One, his conditioning still sucked at the end of the year. Even Cal called him out during the year and said he wasn't putting in the work to get better so I would assume that includes improving his conditioning. If true, Cal should've sat his *** and played someone more deserving who was putting in the work but that is for another discussion. Second, all of the freshmen were scared and pressing in the postseason. That missed dunk was in part due to nerves.

Regardless, he is not ready for the NBA.

8K views and 6 pages about something we all knew was going to happen , we all know he's " not ready". and we all know it's about potential .. this horse at our " program " is deader than 4 o' clock
It's like watching a train wreck. You can't look away.

So Cal gave a starting position to a guy not as good as Adou and now both are gone . Cal and Edwards used us . Did not benefit UK at all .
You cannot serve two masters . Cal should resign .

And the most frustrating part is that Cal didnt do this to keep a guy in the lottery or even the first round. He sacrificed the team being the best they could be to essentially keep this guy in the bottom half of the second round instead of falling out completely which may end up being the case anyway.

I will cheer him on but I am not sure how well he will do until he gets coaching at the next level. He has the intangibles but we didn't coach him up in my opinion.

Um, love the kid to death but let's be honest if you can't even will your team pass the first round of the tournament you are not doing anything in the NBA. That's like saying I'm going to swim to that Island over there while you got your floaties on and the waves are 6 ft high.

He is never going to change. His lips move and it is all lies.
That’s the reason why they both need to go….. Mitch and Cal both I really HATE both of them. It’s one big clown show how can the boss tell you that you need to start retaining players and change your coaching staff then not even 2 weeks later you’re basically telling him to kiss your @$$. I wish I had a job like that and a job that paid me 9 million a year.

Personally I’m more than fine with him leaving. I want everyone to return 95% of the time but he’s in that 5%. There’s many better options in the portal and he would have been played over players better than him again next year.

This is how stupid Kal is. His stubborness and refusal to bring Edwards off the bench and cut his minutes so that Thiero could start and play more ends up costing us both players. Not to mention it was one of the bigger reasons for our failures this year.

Literally any other coach in the country would have started Adou over Edwards because he was better, or atleast played better. They would have had Adou improve more than he already has due to more experience and then would have a had a key piece with a lot of experience returning for next year. But our moron of a coach plays the worse player of the two solely because he was rated higher with draft potential. Look where it got us. Same applies to Wagner as well.

Only at Kentucky, can a player this bad, declare for the NBA after a terrible Freshman year and think he's going to go and be a superstar!

Thanks, Cal!
He will only be picked in the 2nd round because Klutch will pull strings to get him drafted like they did Livingston. He will never get a second nba contract though unless he actually starts working hard and changes a lot of his habits. He better buy Rosetta Stone because he’s going to need it.

Glad he is gone ,glad he did it quickly. In 2 years we will have a hard time remembering his name, when he played and who was on the team. Being here didn't help him or the UK program The reality is that it made no difference if he was here or not. How many players over the last 3 years are in the same boat.

I like the young man but I'd bet my *** he doesnt start for his mighty G league team of ant eaters or mad ants or water buffaloes or whatever . Massive screw job , Cal knew he had Mitch's nuts in his purse so he didnt give a **** about wins or losses . He sabotaged our season intentionally .

"Recovered" " Huge performances " the kid had 1 huge performance and maybe 3 games that can be characterized as decent out of 30. The kid rarely rebounded, shied from contact ,couldn't shot for **** and missed many layups. He has no handle and is a so so athlete. You are really trying to polish a turd on this one.

It’s like deja vu, every year we have kids declare to pursue their dream, and the same miserable adults bash them for it.

Weirdo behavior.

I wish Justin the best.

Everytime I check RRs and see the title of this thread it makes me simultaneously chuckle, SMDH, eye roll, and mutter a bad word. Kentucky basketball. You're the best, Mitch.
Just rolling with it at this point. No point in getting frustrated at the kids, if they can get drafted worst case is they make several hundred thousands which sets them up with a good start to life even if they don't continue in basketball.

Just channeling any frustration at the coach who has facilitated the environment in which we get to have several of these kids each year.

The fan base was on board with this stuff when there was a trade off and something in it for them. When guys like Cousins/Wall/AD/MKG/Knight/Towns/Booker, etc. came, they added something to the program and everyone wished them well when they declared.

But you've got guys bouncing before fans can even learn their name and doing so without adding anything to the program at all.

The men's game is so watered down right now; so bad because so many people leave early so they can trick an NBA team on potential; and then everyone scrambles for the portal guys. This is the lone thing I'm envious of the women's game. You literally get to keep a star for three to four years cause the WNBA makes it that way. Meanwhile, the NBA is drafting guys who are averaging single digits after one year simply cause "Maybe they will be good one day."
Watered down is correct. That’s why I just laugh at the idea that these last two UConn teams are some type of all time greats. Lmfao our 1996 team would crush them by 20.

I will note this..........and not to call anyone out.

But I see some people posting here that are fully onboard with getting rid of Cal, that not that long ago would absolutely chastise you, if you mentioned it.

Interesting.

I’VE ALREADY SAID I WANT CAL GONE, BUT!!!

This is their go to now. Won’t admit how wrong they were, hate having to accept it now, and try and find some way to still attack posters from other angles. Same small group that was in all out attack for years over this issue. Just watch for it, they just can’t help themselves. It’s made them totally lash out and act irrational, but this is a clear education in cognitive dissonance.

Telling the truth about what a big disappointment JE is just that , being truthful. IMO I don’t even think you are a KY fan , just a troll . Ky fans don’t want Justin to fail , we simply acknowledge he’s another Cal product who uses our university name to cash in . We all understand it’s not an issue with players , it’s a systemic John Calipari problem — so stop trying to make BBN look bad - we know your scheme . Go Away .

This sucks this guy has no business being in the draft. Only at Kentucky does this crap happen year in and year out not only do we lose our players that should not leave to the draft early now we lose them to the portal as well.
There is a reason Kentucky has not made the final 4 since 2015.

You're either a living breathing contradiction or incredibly dense or both.

In one sentence you say Justin uses the UK name to cash in. Yet fail to acknowledge that the University uses the player, in this case Justin, as well. The relationship is mutual. All parties get something out of it. Being an adult and not realizing that is odd.

Then you say it's not about the player, but also accused Justin of misrepresenting himself or using UK. Which one is it?

You're actually the one that makes BBN look bad. We lost early in the tournament. Get over it. Move on. Stop being a crybaby. Huffing and puffing and go on with your life. Be mature and support the next team.

It's really not as difficult as you make it seem.

It's one of the things wrong at KY- players do this, Cal, IMO brings in players he knows are going to do this and he refuses to change the way he recruits, coaches, our teams play and college basketball has passed him by, all IMO

It would help getting these guys WANTING to play for UK (and for the NBA draft) if he actually treated them like the freshman that they are, and slowly worked them into playing in games like MOST OTHER COACHES DO. Give them a taste, allow them to mature in a healthy manner, and don't feed their ego.
