I think it was the latter. There was a slight pause between his initial statement and the nail biting comment. I noticed Peterson and Ravech didn't say anything. He wasn't wrong with the initial assessment but that's one of those "Did I say that out loud" moments.

Well, I thought Peterson was also toting burnt orange water because he couldn't quit talking about Texas players, effort, abilities, etc., etc. even whilst our guys were celebrating the win. Peterson is usually ok, but he was too much of a Longhorn hump during this game.

• He’s a much nicer guy than a quality commentator. In 1999 I went to the old Tim McCarver stadium to watch a 19 yr old Rick Ankiel pitch. I sat right next to the screen by Memphis’ on deck circle. Perez was with the Redbirds at the time, as was my favorite player at the time JD Drew. Drew was there on a rehab assignment. There wasn’t a time that Perez was on deck when he didn’t talk to my dad and I. And I was 17ish at the time and not 7 so Perez had no obligation to give me the time of day, but he talked as if he’d known us a decade. On the flip side, JD didn’t give us the time of day. Which that’s fine, that’s just who he seems to be. Perez has long irritated me with his commentating, but he was a super nice dude when that wasn’t what he was getting paid to do.

It happens, lol. A couple months back I was looking around on FB marketplace. I can’t remember what the item was but in its description was “17 in white.” I read it half a dozen times as f’n white before I realized it was SEVENTEEN INCHES.
