hiring Jordan was as much a PR move as a Coaching one , especially after Hurley walked away after his demands weren't met.
A mistake yes, but Jordan didn't walk in ripping the program off like the PSU Professor claims. Eddie just didn't realize what he was getting into and wasn't prepared for it.
Bad move by the RU AD and by Jordan.
Even the PR gained by hiring became a minus once it was found out Eddie never graduated from RU.

EJ is a low energy coach, but he did his best. Big difference between college and pros, and EJ belonged on an NBA bench as an assistant. But the guy is all class and represents us well. You guys climb on him because he didn't recruit the way you would like. But what quality players would come here after FHJ and Rice? Which decent coach would take the job after Mulcahy fired Gary Waters after three NIT appearances in five years? Sure, different administration now. Who was the AD when EJ was hired? Was it Julie Hermann?

again, what kind of argument is "what kind of recruits would come here" when eddie literally wasnt even stepping foot inside of some of the better schools in the state. you have to build the relationships. you have to try. if you swing and miss its one thing. if you do not even try, when you are the head coach of the state university, you are a complete and utter dipshit.

@AshCatchEm

What you need to understand is that he brought in one of the best players since Douby. This is after the Rice dumpster fire. Who gives a crap he's not from NJ. Redshirting a guy because he is out of shap is bad, not an opinion. Many big time programs are dealing with one and done, not redshirting.

sanders isnt even playing like the best player on our team this year so lets how being the best player since douby goes...and one player does not make a winning basketball team. what about the other ones he brought in? Does he get a cookie for bringing in one talented player? in 4 years what shooters did he recruit? (hint: NONE). you cannot succeed here by ignoring the NJ kids. there are plenty of reasons to redshirt a player, like i said. Successful teams arent limited to Duke and UNC..there are many ways to win games and many programs that utilize redshirts. again, i love how you pick and choose what to respond to and completely ignore the part where Jordan failed in his duties by not even showing his face in the high schools around NJ..only a loser would approach this job that way and it was in no way, shape, or form acceptable. He didnt even walk in the building when he was 40 minutes from some of these schools. That is one hell of a level of lazy. you dont see seton hall ignoring the state completely.

Must have been a miracle that Baylor was able to bring in quality players after a player killed another player or Penn State after Sandusky. Must have been a miracle that those schools were able to hire good coaches. The horror of the FHJ and Mike Rice scandals should keep our program dead and buried for at least 29 years. It's a miracle anyone would even come to RU or Coach RU.

Do you even read what you posts? Sanders not playing like the best player? Who is LEADING in scoring, assists, and steals? EJ is suppose to recruit the best players, not NJ players. You should tell Pike to keep recruiting NJ because the 2 commits are both out of state players. Just keep pushing your agenda and make excuses why Pike and Ash can't Win.

How's this?

Poster mentioned that no good players or coaches would come to RU after the FHJ AND RICE horrible scandals. I just delicately responded somehow, Baylor and PSU were able to. You're smart. Figure it out.

You spend money up front to make money in the future. Good coaches and players would have come after Rice if the administration would have done the right thing. Instead we dug ourselves an even bigger hole after hiring Jordan. But keep supporting him.

Is pikiell at naz's school recruiting him? Yes..That is more than you could say of Jordan. Pikiell has visited all the schools in NJ that matter. Jordan did not in 4 years here. Please come up with better arguments.

One of the most ignorant statements ever posted here.

I like his effort too but if he comes up empty, it means nothing. Basketball recruiting is very different than football. You sound like Ron Dayne. He bitched that RU didn't offer. But in reality, he had zero interest in coming here. Form over substance.
