I once saw an interview of Ed where he was asked about moving out of the Big East. I am paraphrasing of course, but basically he said, "...we are in the right place...we fit in the Big East".Originally posted by shortgapwvu:
I was not a fan of Ed Pastilong. I believe that if he were still our AD, we would still be in the AAC

The Beilein hire by Fast Eddie Pasthisprime was a flustercuck from the get go. He passed over Beilein for Jockitch.Originally posted by eermuffz:

Listening to Dan Dakich on espn reminded me of this.

.. and Rich was basically forced on Pastilong, who didn't want to let go of Nehlen or Catlett.
Also Pastilong gets credit for football facility upgrades during his tenure. Ask Nehlen. Every time he wanted some improvements Ed said, sure you can have them IF YOU RAISE THE MONEY! So that's what Nehlen did. He had to do a lot of favors for that IPF. Bur you can be sure Ed was there at the ribbon cutting cermonies taking credit.
And during his tenure the Coliseum had NO UPGRADES whatsoever. Beilein & Huggs had to beg for those and basically again raise the money themselves.
Don't get me wrong. I liked Pastilong, but he was no Oliver Luck when it came to taking the lead in upgrading facilities and raising the money for them.
And don't forget about the Bill Stewart hire.
.......and what is it that makes you think that Ed Pastilong was the one who hired Bill Stewart to replace Rich Rodriguez?Originally posted by GetYaNumbersUp:
he hired Bill Stewart, that is inexcusable. NOTHING about Bill suggested he'd be a good head coach. No OC/DC experience, and he failed miserable in his only previous head coaching gig.
