I wish Coach Russ well. He is still pretty young, less than 40, I’d think. Doesn’t seem like it’s been that many years since he was playing baseball for Cherryville Post 100, but time does go by fast.

Could be that this South Carolina program is getting him ready for a head coach’s position. He obviously has the talent and charisma to turn a team around.

Lake Wylie is a brand new school, I think this will be their first year if I am not mistaken.

Bigger issue here is NC continues to hemorrhage good head coaches to neighboring states, many who are taking assistant jobs for better pay. Brevard just lost their HC to an assistant job in Georgia, the same year he led the Blue Devils to a state title game. NC had better get their head out of their @** before it's too late!

I've been hearing that East Rutherford may very well be on the chopping block by the county in a few years. Wonder if that had anything to do with this move.

That is terrible. What is the cause? Loss of population? Budget Cuts/Consolidation?

1 charter school-Thomas Jefferson-is nearby. The enrollment at TJ is about 300 kids at the high school level.

Can chase and RS absorb ER or would they build a new school to combine chase and ER?

I would assume they would build a brand new school to combine ER & Chase as both are pretty old. One of the reasons I've heard for closing ER is because it would cost too much to repair it and bring it up to date. The county would redraw the lines to split between the proposed new school and RS.

So to be fair. They aren’t just closing East Rutherford. But would be closing Chase as well and forming a new school?

Wouldn't surprise me if a few come over to Cleveland County either
Talks of an OL coming to Lawndale. We were pretty solid on OL so we will see but size will not be an issue this year at Burns. lol We got some big boys up front. Camp, both Harrill brothers, Wilson, Bryant and Bledsoe.

Rutherford County Schools has looked into consolidating its 3 high schools in to 2 I believe. And I think that played a roll in the previous coach at ER deciding to chase the $ and go to SC, and the talks about it can't help their candidate pool, especially this time of year.

Also, the previous coach resigned June 1, it would be pretty impressive if they had been able to post the job, interview some candidates, and make a hire within a 2 week time frame. I know time is important right now, but that would be really fast.
