so youre concerned about the additions of Ace and Dylan as it might affect the defense? or might harm the "heart and soul of the team". honestly not trying to be a wise ***, I honestly dont get the points youre trying to make here. is that what youre getting at?

as far as Mag I think the drop off had a lot more to do with the absolute lack of depth on last years team. Mag is a good player and obviously a very important piece of the defense (arguably the most important - even more than Caleb was- I will grant you that). but as important as he was, Mag was not THAT GOOD that his loss should have resulted in the drop off we experienced last year. that drop off resulted from the fact that we had NO DEPTH and there was a HUGE DROP OFF after the top (was it 6 or 7 players?!). Mag getting replaced with Oscar... come on.

and you couple that Hyatt and Paul going downhill (for whatever reason)....

lastly I'll say, I dont think were really a top 10 or 15 team before he went down (top 25 sure but top 10?). and even if we were top 25 (or whatever) we were on VERY THIN ICE due to the lack of depth (as Mag's loss quickly proved).

and what that has to do with Ace and Dylan. again, not making the connection you seem to be trying to make.
Yes we were top 10-15 on VERY THIN ICE. Yes the lack of depth was a bigger issue than the loss of Mag.

if I am wrong it won’t be the 1st time. I don’t think it is a crazy thought to be concerned that the program can handle a dramatic shift. Of course the upside is huge.

I get nervous with this thing going on and on. Reminds me of a long relationship in which the outside world is presuming a marriage. But you never hear of an engagement. And, remember, even IF you do, an engagement is still not thee marriage. (Not with other suitors.)

Just commit already….if he was into us and “did tge video”, just hold the press conference. Worst kept secret in college basketball

…..or not…

That’s what’s troubling. Especially if he goes

If RU is where he really wants to be, he'll get through the visit to Kansas and be a lock.

I would want to hear from Kansas and visit if I was in his shoes too. It's the biggest decision he can make, so let him be thorough. Still hope he ends up here and does some special things in the banks. Then he can go to the NBA and they can do special things for his banks.

I would say the "Kansas" benefits for a player at Harper's level are not as dramatic as for a lower rated recruit.
He's going to be a 1st round NBA draft pick - regardless of Rutgers or Kansas.
It seems Adidas is involved in both schools.
Rutgers also has another elite player committed so Harper won't be alone with everyone staring at him to bail out the team.
He'll likely have the ball in his hands at Rutgers so no worry about having a bad PG not getting him the ball and tanking his season.

Do we know if Harper really cares too much about conference or national championships in his couple of months of college?
It may come down to how much more $$ Kansas can offer? But again, how high up on the list of priorities is that for Harper?

It ultimately comes down to - none of us have any idea what the list of priorities is for Harper and how Kansas/Rutgers meet them.
Both schools definitely have overlapping and also different benefits.

Considering what we know about his dad, his mom, and his big brother, Dylan is an elite competitor. Elite.

It was mentioned on the podcast two days ago. I'm a strong believer that where there is smoke there is fire. Kansas is going to make a big push of:
-We are going to open the season as the #1 team in the country
-win a national championship here in your one and done year
-RU can't win a natty next year
-We know that you're not poor but this NIL bag is 7 figures

Rutgers has strong counters to this argument but Kansas has a strong pitch. Worst case scenario is that Kansas pitches Ace too.
Just Kansas and establishment trying to pretend they can put Rutgers in its place. Kansas is so great they will take Dylan and could take Ace too. Couple of weeks ago it was Indiana that was supposedly gaining traction. Absolutely no chance Ace goes to Kansas. He very recently said he still loves Rutgers (and did before commitment) plus he's even closer to JMike than he is to Dylan.

Nor Dylan. No indication he was really interested in Kansas (showed more in Indiana tham them). If so why hasnt he visited or spoken about it? Kansas advantage? A one and done type that does well at Rutgers won't suffer in the draft. What can Kansas give that outweighs all the well documented ties and history with Rutgers?

Also why would Dylan cheapen himself? After all that Rutgers has put in (as well as Rutgers ties and hisory) and how little (as far as I know) Kansas has put in, he would cheapen himself and look desperate and a bit of an idiot if he went running at this stage because Bill Self snapped his fingers.

Even if Self is trying in my opinion it's a much smaller story than it's getting credit for. Just a manufactured story for a slow news cycle.

If he and Bailey play for 1 year and they lose in the 1st round of the NIT they will have ZERO legacy. Any legacy they leave will be based on performance on the court.
that's how i feel........your here for one year....... after all this hoopla we better have a deep tournament run.....i'm from the old school,,,,,,i like having 4yr kids......this is uncharted territory for ru...the one and done era at ru is here.

I agree with you. However, the positive attention and credibility that it will bring to the program..having the numbers 2 and 3 recruits and possibly the top class, in addition to the excitement for that season, is priceless.

I am not as bullish as most on 2024-25. This program has been built on defense and certainly not offense. Games are played with one basketball. I have a tough time thinking we do a 180 and all of a sudden build a program around outscoring teams and not winning based on the effort we put in on the defensive end.
When Pike has guys that can score the ball at multiple levels, watch how fast we become an offensive team.

Strap in… Talk to me in Spring. He’s not “all in” that’s for sure. He wants to see how do in our new system. Rich, are you still CB to Rutgers ?? I’m reading this ad all bets are off…

No surprise, really. Dylan said in January he will take his five official visits.

The only surprise is that it's taking him much longer to visit his final two schools because of his busy schedule. He originally intended to take all his visits by the end of June and then announce his decision during the summer.

I've said this before and it's worth repeating:

I was told a long time ago by someone who would know that Dylan absolutely loves the recruiting process. He's going to listen to anything he thinks is worth listening to.

He'll make his decision known when no one is telling him anything he hasn't heard already.

There is likely millions at stake. There is no chance he isn't playing out every scenario possible.

Richie says numerous times that he's still very confident he comes to Rutgers but that according to Pikiell Kansas was always the biggest threat.
Richie said, lol. There are a Lot better sources on BB recruiting out there. There are literally people out there that don't do anything else but BB recruiting.

Actually three, Rutgers hasn't had an official visit either.
