Watch him closely. The last 5 or so games he is either putting in 0 effort every play or betting on the games. Scoring about 1 point per game and rebounding, he stares at it. Doesnt run ever. Very strange

A joke the color guy called him a high energy guy. Shows that they talk out their a$$ much of the time and can’t follow each of the teams in the games they call.Today was not the day to criticize Dylan. It is the hardest he has played in weeks.
Grant was indeed sluggish in the first half, but was one of the keys to RU’s success in the second half in holding off the Terps.Today was not the day to criticize Dylan. It is the hardest he has played in weeks.
The guy is playing incredibly soft.Phil RU writes tonight:
Also wow with that over, one of the softest performances I've seen watching college basketball from DG tonight. 1-8 FG with about four air balls, and I think the most damning stat might be zero personal fouls while being physically abused all game long.
Yea I mean I certainly don't attribute his play to like gambling or anything nefarious like that. Most of his "effort" stats are pretty similar to last year (offensive and defensive rebounding rates, steal rate, etc), except his block rate is cut in half.Phil RU writes tonight:

And that's what broke the game open.Quite a few of the MI State 2nd half dunk fest was him not getting back and getting a body on a guy.
My biggest is how "soft" he isGrant is closer to 6’6” than 6’9”.
my biggest disappointment so far with Grant is his rebounding. I remember it mentioned that in AAU he was a big time rebounder when no one rebounds. I wasn’t expecting the next Dennis Rodman, but was expecting much more.
You are wrong on Buchannon, we just play him out of position on D 80% of trips down the court. Pretty sure at one point last night on four consecutive possessions, he had two covering Fears and two on the Center.I was out last night and just watched the game. You are absolutely correct with the "soft" description. His new nickname should be Charman. Buchanon also isn't close to being a good defender either. If we had any kind of front court, this team could have actually made the conference tournament fun. Hopefully, Ogbole uses this game as a springboard. He did get away with a couple of obvious travels yesterday.
On a good note, this team is really starting to come together. I like the distribution of minutes yesterday. Pike has to find a way to retain Mark, Powers and Francis. I love the way they play
I think we already overpayed him. Wouldn't think he'd expect much increase again.Pike needs to move on from this kid but my gut tells me we’ll stay loyal and overpay.
He went from showing nice potential and flashes to playing completely lost and soft.
I didn't watch last night but I have been saying all season he plays like he is 5'11"Pike needs to move on from this kid but my gut tells me we’ll stay loyal and overpay.

I have mixed feelings on Buchanon. You definitely made some good points about his D. While I think he is probably our best defender, I just think he is a bit overrated on that side of the ball. I just think he is a classic tweener that gets beat off the dribble by quick guards and not tall or strong enough to play the bigger guys. However, I do love his energy and enthusiasm, but, at times, hate his shot selection. You are wrong on Buchannon, we just play him out of position on D 80% of trips down the court. He is a real enigma because he had a solid game against Maryland, but was so bad last night. He is like a box of chocolates. You just don't know what you are going to getGrant is useless and is getting worse. Doesn't play hard, gets pushed around, doesn't box out, and can't score. Hope he leaves day after season ends.
We are so bad on D around the court it's tough to judge any one guy. There is zero help on the backside almost always. Think it would look better with size and ability around him. Shot selection can be suspect, no doubt, but his forces are rare and he does have an eFG% higher than all but the other two who shoot even less, EO and Dortch. He's a piece, not a star, but solid.I have mixed feelings on Buchanon. You definitely made some good points about his D. agree but remove a zeroThe effort and lack of awareness during that dunk fest by Grant was as bad as I’ve seen. Some guys just don’t have that motor you need to succeed at this level. A-10 or MAC would be a good landing spot for him.
If for some reason he was interested in taking $200k for 5-10 minutes / game role then maybe you keep him around. I doubt he wants that.
This has been happening since the UCLA game. I literally watch him every possession that game bc I couldn’t believe it. Does not grab a rebound like he’s trying to let it hit the ground in front of him. Doesn’t run above 3MPH. It’s mind blowing. He was so bad last night in the second half that I could not take my eyes off of him. I just watched him every time down the court. Played like some random guy they picked out of the crowd.
Then Pike glued him to the bench.
I hope we dont overypay for him next year on the hope he's going to magically start caring.
Buchanon’s inconsistency and erratic play is his big issue. I am hoping we bring in enough upgrades in the portal that Buchanan is able to be a bench player who we see in slightly smaller doses with a specific role. This roster was devoid of talent and he really had to take on a bigger role due to that. Kudos to him for taking that on and showing effort and fight while doing it (as opposed to Grant who always looks like he plays with the intensity level of a pick up game at the local gym). Smaller doses of Buchanan in a slightly smaller role will help limit some of the out of control play we saw along with hopefully improved decision making from him. We also see a lot of good plays from Buchanan, hoping to see more consistency from him as opposed to 2-3 straight bad shots/turnovers and then 2-3 nice passes/buckets. I am not knocking Buchanan, he is an overall positive for this team, just think he is best suited and at the level of a Big 10 bench/role player. I want him back for sure next season. As far as Grant goes, hopefully Pike has already had “the talk” with him and he’s off to greener pastures.I have mixed feelings on Buchanon. You definitely made some good points about his D. Grant was a huge disappointment this year. He has all the potential in the world. Im not sure if he just lacks confidence but he doesn't seem to play very hard at all.
Is a very good athlete with great size and length and can shoot the 3. What happened this year? Was he just not developed? Why are players regressing with this coaching staff?
There is no dog in him. He plays like he's 5-11. He shows no interest in banging down low and grabbing a rebound. Absolute zero. He has a long way to go IMO because he's not this dynamic scorer and he needs to get stronger. He's not a starter on a good team. Darren is much better than him.Grant was a huge disappointment this year. He has all the potential in the world. Im not sure if he just lacks confidence but he doesn't seem to play very hard at all.

The number one thing tha tends to happen senior year is guys get more consistent and clean up the erratic stuff. I know many like to say he has no confidence, he's given up on the season, and he doesn't play hard. The truth is he's just got that good, and Pike has been unable to coach him up.There is no dog in him. He plays like he's 5-11. He shows no interest in banging down low and grabbing a rebound.
