If you had to choose one who do you take? The highly touted recruit that is built like a tank? Or the proven college veteran that is built like a mega-tank?

I expect Duren will be more sought after but I could see a valid argument either way. Curious to see who some would pick if given the choice.

Duren by a mile. Cockburn is a great player but in today’s game of basketball he’s a liability on the defensive end. Loyolla-Chicago abused him in pick n roll or out on the floor situations

First to commit wins. Take both if you can. It's up to them, Duren and KC (I wonder if his middle name starts with F).

Just give us one, either one, and this team is 13 deep and has to be the #1 ranked team going into the season.

Kofi and Oscar out there together with 3 great shooters sound terrifying. Does the opposing team get destroyed inside or jam things up and open the flood gates from 3 for our 5-6 shooters.

Probably Duren? He has the higher ceiling I would imagine, and he brings a different style for the center position than Oscar and Kofi, who are fairly similar.

Butttt.. Kofi is proven. Idk.
Possible higher ceiling this one season. Or proven high ceiling?
Let’s say kofi played at a 90 last season and probably gives another 90.
Duren has a 50:50 chance at playing a 100...
Does the risk make up for a proven guy.?

Jalen Duren was never a realistic option to add to this team. He is the type that wants 35mpg or more. We just have way too many proven and quality guys on the roster for that to happen this year. Kofi on the other hand has only overaged 27mpg both seasons at IL. In that regard, he is the better fit for us. Not to mention, he would get more daily competition to improve, would have a bigger stage and program for NIL and for potentially raising his profile to get drafted. Kofi is also a proven player at this level. With Jalen, there would be some growing pains and we likely only see a fraction of his potential in his 1 season with us. With Kofi, we get a current 2nd team AA and a guy who could opt to come back for a SR year. Particularly if the income from NIL is good enough. Kofi is also 7'0 and 290#, and looks like all muscle.

Yeah I think the argument can be made, to take the proven big man who we know is a top5 big next year. The risk probably isn't worth the reward. But I still do think Duren fits better. I think you might, might, be able to play him alongside Oscar.. where as with Kofie, you really can't put them on the floor together.

We have a LOT of bases covered already, but one area we could probably be better at is shot-blocking. Duren could be that next-level shot blocker. Just not sure how he feels about being the 4.

I don't want to sign either of them if it's going to tempt Cal to try to play big. I think getting guys minutes is going to be tough enough with our current roster, adding more guys is just going to make that worse IMO.
