Great postIL, you gotta calm down on Wheeler. We get it.
Yes there a couple people here who maybe don’t think he should play at all. Most of us really like him, we just don’t all agree on how we should utilize him.

You're either misremembering or just lying. He shot 4-8 from the floor against St Peter's. He scored 11 in that game and made 1-2 from 3. TyTy shot 2-10. Grady shot 1-9. Brooks shot 2-7. That's why we lost, not Wheeler.
People have been blaming Wheeler for that loss for so long, some think the lies must be true. I guess someone should petition to have the box score removed from the archives. Haha! Although, it doesn't really matter, nobody ever actually looks at it. They just assume the lies here must be true.
^^^Those missed Ft's late...
2:57 to go Kentucky up. 75-72, Wheeler clanks two. Down one late he throws the ball away trying to get it to Oscar.
And so you lay the entire loss on ONE player. Nevermind we never should have been in OT in the first place. Nevermind that the other 3 starters combined to shoot 5-26 for the game for 19%. It doesn't matter because it's all Wheeler's fault. That's completely irrational. I watched the game too, every agonizing second of it. Wheeler made some mistakes in that OT for sure but he wasn't alone. The TEAM lost that game. Everyone bears responsibility, not just one guy.^^^
@IL Wildcat Wheeler choked in the final minutes which is when I’ve been saying he shouldn’t be playing. He’s fine playing the first 30. Not everything can be boiled down to a box score, we all watched the game. Can’t blame Grady and TyTy not scoring when Cal mismanaged their injuries all year bc Wheeler had to sit.
If you’re the primary ball handler wasting possessions in the final 4 minutes by turning it over, missing shots/FTs then yes it’s on you. The same way ppl remember the Harrison’s in 2015 for their multiple Shot clock violations in the closing minutes. The same way ppl bash hagans for the 2018 E8 loss to Auburn. I’m just pointing out wheeler shouldn’t be on the court late in close games. Agree or disagree? And so you lay the entire loss on ONE player. I disagree. You play Wheeler at pg along with Wallace at 2g. Play wheeler as many minutes as you can at pg, then put Wallace hat point when Wheeler is out.We know what we’re going to get out of Wheeler at this point. Bring him off the bench for 20 minutes in an energy role.
Cason has the higher ceiling. The team has a higher ceiling with him. That jumper off the inbounds last night for three was a thing of beauty and showcases the things wheeler just can’t do.
No, you can't create some hard, fast rule like that. It's all situational. There are times where I might agree with you and times when I wouldn't. And I definitely don't agree that it's all on Wheeler. If you’re the primary ball handler wasting possessions in the final 4 minutes by turning it over, missing shots/FTs then yes it’s on you. Lol @ a coupleIL, you gotta calm down on Wheeler. We get it.

Come on IL. We all know Wheeler sucks. He’s only been an all time SEC assist leader. A kindergartner could pull that off. /s.On Difficulty of containing Sahvir…
“Well, you know, we knew that if we didn’t guard, we were going to have problems. We did a poor job of guarding the ball, but that’s tribute to him. He’s a strong, tough, little guy that gets to where he wants to get and then shares the ball. That was probably the key to the game. We just didn’t guard the ball well. And then, when you don’t guard the ball well, with all that shooting they have and then the size inside, you’re scrambling.”
I don't think he got the memo from this message board on Wheeler. This nut job thinks Wheeler's play was the key to the game. He should just hang up his whistle, guy can't even see how crappy that kid is. Doesn't he know Wheeler hasn't won an NCAA tournament game? If he knew that, they would have been able to guard him for sure.![]()
Yeah it’s obviously more th an a couple. And since he had a halfway decent game last night, it’s been “Huh….we can’t really pick on wheeler….Toppin! Man Toppin sucks! “Lol @ a couple
Yep. And Cal does what he always does when he panics. He puckered up tighter than a snare drum and played not to lose when up by 6. Stall ball.Having shooters to kick it to is the critical difference. When TyTy and Grady were healthy, it worked well (Kansas). When they weren’t it was fugly (St Peter’s).
It was more than a halfway decent game.Yeah it’s obviously more th an a couple. And since he had a halfway decent game last night, it’s been “Huh….we can’t really pick on wheeler….Toppin! Man Toppin sucks! “
Every season RR does seem to have its favorite whipping boy.
Come on now bbn, you were popping off some negative comments about Toppin in last nights game thread. You contributed to the Toppin whipping boy stuff too.Yeah it’s obviously more th an a couple. So he makes 2 bad plays Everytime he makes a good one .. lol he made 2 turnoversWell, he's right, Wheeler can kill you if you don't cage him in, the problem with Wheeler is he'll make a great play, then follow it up with two plays where he overpenetrates, jumps in the air and throws the ball away.
At this point in his career, he should know when to force the action and when to back out and run offense from the top.
I love seeing him in there, he just needs to play smarter.
The Duquesne coach isn't going to critique our guys the way we would, so it's really not fair to call out "the Wheeler haters", whoever they are.
Jesus man, just stop posting. So he makes 2 bad ays Everytime he makes a good one .. lol he made 2 turnovers
All three of our guards were all injured when were beaten in the tourney. Wheeler ankle and neck. Grady faciaitis in the foot and TYTY ankle. Bad luck for UK.Having shooters to kick it to is the critical difference. When TyTy and Grady were healthy, it worked well (Kansas). When they weren’t it was fugly (St Peter’s).
So Frederick sits?I disagree. You play Wheeler at pg along with Wallace at 2g. Play wheeler as many minutes as you can at pg, then put Wallace hat point when Wheeler is out.
Kinda what everyone else is thinking about you. Less the 12 people identical to you.Jesus man, just stop posting.
No, you're just a moron that thinks every error is shown in the box score.Kinda what everyone else is thinking about you. Less the 12 people identical to you.
I was just repeating what you said. For every good thing he does, he makes 2 bad plays
Maybe so. I let some irritate me, it's true. Truth is Wheeler is one of the keys to this team, whether he starts or comes off the bench. I guarantee you, teams planning to defend UK have to start by figuring out how to stop Wheeler from getting into the lane.
Uhhh no, how 'bout that? Why don't you?
It’s nuts. Dude spends more time defending Wheeler than he does working on those sermons. Weird stuffIL be honest.
Wheeler and you have something going we’re not aware of.
Yeah, he's the godfather to my children. Ha!IL be honest.
Wheeler and you have something going we’re not aware of.
I said he couldn’t find the ocean. That was it. And that was a fact. I also gave him praise when he did well. Biggggggggggg difference than just crapping on him.Come on now bbn, you were popping off some negative comments about Toppin in last nights game thread. You contributed to the Toppin whipping boy stuff too.
What I recall in the game, as it moved along, nobody except Oscar and Mintz acted like they wanted the ball. The others were almost hiding from Wheeler, because they were not playing well and did not WANT the ball. You cannot make something happen at PG when your teammates are running from the ball and the bright lights. They felt the pressure. And so you lay the entire loss on ONE player. Nevermind we never should have been in OT in the first place. Nevermind that the other 3 starters combined to shoot 5-26 for the game for 19%. It doesn't matter because it's all Wheeler's fault. Same with the poster you said that to....so, what about that?Uhhh no, how 'bout that?
Uhhh, not sure what you want me to say, seems like a pretty odd conversation you are initiating. I bet you’re great at parties.Same with the poster you said that to....so, what about that?
AmenIL, you gotta calm down on Wheeler. We get it.
