Duke Vs FSU ... Big Game

Having started 0-1 with the BC loss, this is an important game to get a win under our belt. Especially with the next two games on the road (@ NCSU & PITT)

It will be interesting to see whether we continue to see improvement on the defensive end with these days off and more practice time.

FSU is one of those teams, along with Miami, that always give Duke trouble. I'm glad this one is at home. It's a game we should win if we come out ready to play - Hopefully really aggressive. But, we need to be ready b/c FSU can be a dangerous team.

It’s a scary game because of the loss against Boston College.

I think we’re going to be fine, but there’s apprehension from how well FSU has played us in the past. It will be a tight game, but I think ultimately we slip away late for about an 8-to-10 point win.

FSU is always a scary game, they have played a light schedule, but have won most of their games pretty handily.
I don't see this team losing back to back ACC games, and I don't think we lose at home all year.
I believe we win this one.

Big game. I am definitely concerned with having played one game in twenty plus days and that was a blowout. Hopefully we aren’t too rusty and out of game shape. While we are at home, the student section will be relatively calm since they will still be on Christmas break. Hopefully those that are at the game will be able to step up.

As for the game itself. Nothing new for us. We need to control the glass on offense, and play smart- Grayson and Tre. No moronic turnovers and when the game is close taking the best shot not just the first open look (corner 3). Bags, Carter along with Ques and Javin need to command the paint. We do this we win.

Defensively, I’ll just trust that the staff has continued to work on them to the point where we are seeing signs of improvement. K said it after the last game, we had time to practice and it showed. This is clearly a much better opponent, so how will we do.

I.T depends if you believe in our OOC schedule. But so far the team plays better ball as far as limiting mistakes and defense than last year

Improvement defensively. That's what I'd like to see. If we can keep Fsu in the low to mid 70's, I think we win by double digits. Will be a game where if Duke shows some toughness on defense, the rest of the conference will go OH SH*%!!!

We have so much more skill than them. Just always have Trent/Javin/Bagley hounding Terrence Mann. They should be easy to shut down. Scoring on them will be about passing well.

Unless we foul a ton heading down the stretch to close the gap, 86 sounds like a lot. That’s way above our season average, and the only times teams have really gotten close to 80 is when we were in blowouts. I’m not saying duke will lose, but team defense is legit and I’m guessing it’ll be more like 75-68

Also, Terrence is definitely the alpha, but we’ve had 6 different guys be the leading scorer this year. Very well rounded scoring team, especially when we get out in transition

FSU will play a lot of folks. While Mann tops their scoring at about 15ppg, they have good balance per most Hamilton teams. Counting Mann there are 10 players averaging between 15 and 4 ppg....Hoping we get a lift from our bench tomorrow, and we must defend the three as well. 'Noles hit 19 of em in their last outing.

The Noles are big and athletic. Hamilton always has his teams playing good defense and they will be up for this game. I look for the score to be close .

I’m just looking at the BC loss then Duke blows out Evansville ( even though three of their top scorers that made up 42.4 points were out injured) , then the lay off with the Christmas break. I look for a close game didn’t say Duke would lose just that it will be a tough game. Unlike BC I think the length of Florida st. Matches up very well with this Duke team. Duke scores a lot in the paint and Florida St knows how to protect the paint.

You've got it partly right dbav. Dukiejay is teaming up with Ticket2ride, or whatever his name is, and they're going to be hosting a radio talk show called Ticket with Dukie. Should be a hit. Hart and Datt are the first guests. Betting money is a quick commercial break.
Ipsychosis will be taking over as a moderator, and DI and our season will go belly up by Sunday night.

Agree. Really hope the kids paid attention the last 3 weeks. We will find out soon enough. I'm about to go crazy, in laws in town, no Duke games lately. I feel like a caged animal.

A team being picked close to last in the ACC. Beating us and hearing “ overrated “ chants from their fan base should be.

We can all talk about winning the game tomorrow and the players have learned from the loss. I'm certainly hope that is true and beating Evansville the way we did would seem they got the message but we should have beaten Evansville the way we did. Even Evansville got off those three pointers which is still our biggest weakness . The best way to stop a team from hitting 3's is to not let them take 3's. Now I don't know how exactly to do that but it has to be a way. OFC

I still haven’t felt completely good about any of our victories since M.State. Man all this team has to do is hold other teams to 75-80 points and Duke could still win easily.
