We'll see just how fine some of you are with the front court when Lee ends up leaving. Our front court is weak and our backcourt has no depth. What was supposed to be a loaded team has turned into a team more on par with 2011/2016.

I was gonna go on a little rant but I've said it before. Cal needs to get it together. Either keep more players around or recruit better. What's going on now ain't cutting it.

Interesting that Coach K is not going. He's sending Capel. He must feel pretty sure Bolden is coming to Duke. Shows me that Cal wants him more than Ratface does.
K just had a total knee replacement. I hear those things aren't too conducive to traveling. K & Cal both want the kid equally as bad.

Bolden needs to take a look at Jeter vs Skal. Both were 5 star big men that weren't quite ready to perform at a high level in Div I basketball. How did that turn out for each? Cal stuck with Skal developing, giving him playing time, and taking the blame for any of his faults. Skal will be a first round pick. Jeter saw the bench the majority of the year and Coack K is going all out to recruit over him for this coming season so if they land Bolden he is forced with riding the bench another year or transferring. I know where I would go if I was in his shoes.
Wow, these two situations aren't even comparable. Skal was a sure fire OAD and the projected number 1 overall pick. Now his stock has taken a major hit. Jeter on the other hand was seen as a work in progress and is widely seen as a 4 year player at Duke. 5 star ratings mean little in the grand scheme of things.

Spin it however you so choose.

Ah yes... Duke's players in the NBA suck. Deng, Battier, Redick, Boozer, Brand, Irving, Parker, Dunleavy, Hill, Maggette, Henderson, and all the rest... They suck, or sucked. Because K didn't develop them. But man, can you imagine if KAT or Anthony Davis or John Wall hadn't played for Cal? Oh boy, they would have sucked in the league, because six months with Cal is what made them the players they are.

I am trying to find a more eye-rolly emoticon than [eyeroll], but I can't find one. Would [banana] suffice?

I have been banned on your board for even hinting that ratface pretended to pass out a few years just to get some calls (Is that really a stretch). I don't want to re-visit that, but I should be able to come to my own board and not feel like all you little mini-rats are coming here infesting this board.
Why are you little turds showing up here and trying to get us on board with this ********?

So let me get this straight.. Cal needs to "get it together" and stop building teams like the 2011 team that made the Final Four?

It ain't cutting it for you, you mean. The rest of us are happy to have witnessed a championship, a 38-1 season, a thrilling run in 2014, and the excitement of beating #1 overall Ohio State and the UNC-Cheats to go to the Final Four in 2011, all in the past six years. Why don't you do us and yourself a favor and go root for Duke, or anyone else but the Cats. The BBN will be fine without you.

He's delusional. He thinks his opinions carry weight on Cal.

Cal: "Zaytovern, what do I do? I need your advice".
Zaytovern: "Cal, you're gonna have to put it together, could you at least try to recruit better?"
Cal: "ok, thanks for that knowledge Zaytovern. BBN is sure lucky that I have you to fall back on. Whew."

Bolden likely gets more minutes at UK, but both coaches want him to keep the other from getting him. Probably more so in K's case since he fits the UK roster better. If UK gets Bolden then we will be more of a threat to Duke next year. If K gets him then he doesn't have to play him much at all as his goal will already be accomplished. The thing that's perhaps lost on Bolden is that until Jefferson got hurt Plumlee was not getting much time

Wait... what? You think Coach K faked passing out in order to get calls? Seriously? Like... he was walking on the sideline, and then actually had the thought 'You know, if I just fell down right now, and curled up, and people got all worried about me, then I bet the three refs would suddenly call charges instead of blocks, and we might get some free throws!' And then he, like, fell down? That's... like... psychotic.

Uh, normally I would say I am here because I like shooting the **** about basketball, and Duke basketball, with people, and I like doing it sometimes with people who aren't Duke fans because it DOES get a little old when everyone is rah rah over the same thing. It can be fun to argue about basketball with fans of other teams, and there are a lot of them here. Its a busy place.

Now, however, I think I want to post here just to hear more about *you*.

BTW, still hearing from several Duke folks that it is done, Bolden is going to Duke. Wayne Gooch (great name, right?) who runs a Duke site said that another piece of the 2016 puzzle will be added very soon. Really hearing from Duke folks that it is over. Take it for what you will.

What we've witnessed is an unprecedented amount of talent come thru here in all of college history. All that talent has resulted in ONLY 1 title in 7 years. At the very least we should have 2 and likely 3 titles in those 7 years.

Cal needs to talk his guys into returning to school. If you're top 10 then fine go ahead but numerous players under Cal have left here too soon and it's not only hurt us but it's hurt themselves.

Orton
Lamb
Teague
Young
Andrew & Aaron
Dakari

Add Skal on that list and add in Lee and Briscoe if they leave as well. It was pretty obvious that all those listed above except maybe Young would struggle hard to make a team and now they're either out of the league or are in the D League.

Cal has brainwashed so many of our fans into believing you can only improve your game in the pros and that its always better to leave early. That's simply not true at all. Valentine and Hield are perfect examples this year of guys that came back and are now gonna possibly go late lottery or 1st round at least.

I'm tired of Cal "doing what's best for the players." I want our guys to get rich and be NBA stars as well but it's costing us too much at the current rate. For starters it's not always in the players best interest to leave early and second it always hurts us. The believers can claim that's the reason our recruiting is so good but coach K keeps players around and it hasn't hurt him a bit, and the same thing goes for Self.

We are never gonna get 9 unless we start getting some continuity every year. Losing our best 4-8 players every season is a big reason we keep coming up short!

The best team hasn't won the tourney or at least projected best team. Tournament extremely random. So the next time our fans want to ***** about going 6-10 years without winning a title...it happens...best team on paper doesn't win it a lot of times.

Wait... what? You think Coach K faked passing out in order to get calls? Seriously? I think it's crazy to say that Coach K all of a sudden came up with the idea of passing out in the middle of a game to get in favor with the refs...literally just the most insane notion I've ever heard.

What is a completely believable idea, is that Coach K had conspired this plan years ago, and always kept it "in his back pocket" to pull out and use in time of dire need. Apparently during a regular season game, at home, is when he was resorting to this last ditch effort. That, my friend, is not only believable, but highly likely. I don't think you can find a reasonably educated person who could come up with a logical argument against this theory...but good luck!

I find entitled, whiny crybabies like you tiresome. If following Kentucky basketball during this exciting era didn't make me happier than some of you, I'd find something else to do. For the life of me I can't understand the instinct to be perpetually negative -- especially about a basketball program that is the greatest of all time, and that has had the best run of any in the country over the past six years. I've followed the Cats since the 1960s. Trust me -- if they aren't making you happy right now, that will NEVER happen, so you'd be better off moving on.

If Bolden wants to be a lottery pick, then he probably should go to UK.

Cal has a better track record of getting big men drafted in the lottery than K in recent history. In the last six seasons:

Cousins
Davis
Randle
KAT

Vs.

Okafor

Now I know Okafor is the only OAD that K has signed in that timeframe, so one could argue that K hasn't had enough of a sample size to compare, but it's still fairly telling. Especially when we watched KAT leap frog Okafor (the sure-fire #1 pick going into the season) in the lottery.

Now if Bolden wants to be in college for multiple years, then Duke may be a better choice. K is the best coach in the business. I can not fault him for choosing the Blue Devils if being a OAD lottery pick big man is not his goal. If it is, he should go to UK. Odds are slightly better for him to get to the lottery in one year if he goes to UK.

There ought to be a kitty (as in poker) that posters have to ante to in order to be able to make proclamations/projections about recruiting. The more extreme the prediction, the higher the ante must be. In econ it's called "marking one's beliefs to market". Or at least make it a game. Something like this:

Everyone starts with 500 zlotys (the standard currency of gasbags.). The lowest evaluation? 1 zloty. A report of a lean? 2 zlotys. A prediction -- however hemmed 'round with qualifications? 10 zlotys. An assurance? 50 zlotys. At the end of the recruiting year, correct remarks are added up and posters share the kitty according to the rate at which they were correct. At the start of the next year everyone gets another 500 zlotys. Each poster's zlotys carry over. So, if you were correct in one season, you have more zlotys to gasbag with the next season.

I'd take Duke's run and probably even UConn's over our last 7 years since they both have 2 titles.

If we weren't stocked with so much talent then it wouldn't bother me near as much. I can't help but feel that we have blown way too many title chances. I have fun and enjoy the season while it's happening, yes I get pissed at times but i still enjoy it. It's after the season, especially when we are the favorites like last year, when we don't win a title that I get so pissed about.

Could you over exaggerate any more? None of these kids families are starving. Could they use money? Sure, but so could we all. Plus, it's the parents job to provide for the family, not the kid. Them staying in college an extra 1-2 years isn't going to kill them. If Alex can stay his sophomore year when he's projected as a first rounder while his mom is in very bad health then so could all these other kids.

Also I don't believe I said Cal shouldn't worry about the players. I just wish he'd be more like the other coaches when it comes to telling a player whether to stay or go.

As far as me being selfish when it comes to UK winning a title. Hell yeah I selfishly want to win more titles. It's no different than our players "selfishly" coming to UK just to be a OAD and go pro. Everyone has their own agenda and you're lying to yourself if you say otherwise.

You didn't choke. Nova was on fire nearly the entire tournament. They finished the season #1 in Kenpom by a fair margin after being top 3 almost all season.

UNC had the best team on paper as it turned out but they never hit their ceiling. Nova did.

Coach K's 3 most talented teams did not win the title. Dukes 1991, 2010, 2015 titles were not really expected.

So sometimes a team is not expected to win it does & a team that is expected to win it does not... you have to have some good luck like the very easy Road to the final four in 2010..etc.

I'm sure if I were to coach at Kentucky for 36 seasons he probably win 5 titles... but we'll never know that

So I guess you didn't hear about Skal's family living in Haiti, how their home was destroyed by an earthquake and such? But he should stay longer even though he's about to save them from poverty.

Coach K's 3 most talented teams did not win the title. Dukes 1991, 2010, 2015 titles were not really expected.

I just got curious and looked back and their 2001 team wasn't the preseason favorite either. Arizona was that year apparently.

The last time Duke was preseason #1 and actually won the title, and the only time, was in 92.

Since then they've been the preseason favorite in 99, 2002, 2006 and 2011. Only made it past the sweet sixteen once in those years.

Know you all want Bolden badly--but this thread is an example of a late recruit who is good--but clearly #5 at best (I like SKJ upside more) in your class if he signed. Bolden is a back to basket scorer and big frame and I think UK would do best job of developing his weaknesses, but he's getting far overhyped due to waiting. If he chooses Duke, this isn't the "shift of balance" or anything. It's a good player picking an elite program. I like Jarrett Allen more as a player personally and some other options out there and as an impartial fan, Also other options out there for UK--too much fretting/worrying over a good but not program changing recruit.

I'd still take Bolden over Allen personally but otherwise I agree with that. I'm more excited about Fox, Monk, Bam, & Gabriel than I would be about Bolden.
