That seems too good to be true, Fake News! Being captain on the team sport of “Tag” at North Possum State will come out during the intense NCAA investigation once you join the team and start dropping 3’s.

Based on early evaluation of talent and how those players should coalesce, this season is our best chance to win a title going into a year since 2006, IMO. I am betting 100 bucks on a Duke title this week.

When you look at what’s left and where Duke stands with them, it doesn’t look good. The only top 25 player that Duke leads for is Moore.

By the same token if Duke DOES land Moore, that can be like the first domino falling and a few others fall into place. Its a long process... OFC

Unpopular onion here I'm sure. But if we don't land a single one and done for the 2019 class, I'd be all right with that.
I don’t completely disagree with you but we should be pulling at least 2-3 guys in that 15-35 range which were not at the moment. Cole Anthony and a OAD big would be nice though.

That is the problem. That 15-35 group is pretty far down this year. If we had last year's roster, or next year's roster, we'd have more players out of the current class in that 15-35 range. This is a down year, and the kids in that 15-35 range see themselves as possible, if not probable, OADs. This year's class, especially that 15-35 range, is down to the point that none of them are guaranteed to be better than guys on the current roster. Baker was in that range in his class. Seniors Javin and probably Bolden, would scare off many bigs in that range. Junior AOC, soph Baker, and senior White would scare off many wings in that range. With the addendum that both Baker and White might both capable of playing small ball 4.
.
Now, Tre is a great unknown. He scares off any PG in the class not named Cole Anthony, and if Tre returns, Cole Anthony STARTS, but not at PG. He'd move off the ball with Tre as PG. He'd be fine in that role, but he wants to be a PG with the ball in his hands. Which will be better for him, so I understand his hesitancy. And Tre is iffy. Tyus had a great year at Duke, but still fell further than many here thought. Still first round, but later than most expected, if only slightly later. And Tyus has been, in a word, solid. Not a starting level PG on a top tier team, but definitely a solid backup. He was lucky that the hometown team wanted a player like that. They won't want 2 of them. Point being, Tre could play as well as Tyus but not be as confident about his first round status as Tyus. Meaning he'd be back at Duke for his soph year. If that happened, some wings in the 25 and down range would be lucky to play at Duke next year. We recruited Tyus with the full expectation that he'd be a 2, or more, year player. Having those same expectations for Tre, who might not be quite as good as Tyus, makes some question what role would be available at Duke for any guard not named Cole Anthony.
.
Look, neither I, nor anyone, knows for sure how good next year's roster will be. I don't know if Tre will be back. I don't know that AOC, Baker, and White can play big roles. I don't know that Javin and Bolden will be solid bigs. But all of those things are, at the very least, probable. They are definitely possible. Good players would look at that roster and feel they could out play some of those guys to earn starting roles, or at the least big roles. I think this HS class is full of guys who aren't good enough to DEFINITELY force their way onto the court for Duke. Of the guys we were recruiting, at any point, there were only 2. Cole and Carey. Every single other player we were recruiting faced the possibility that they wouldn't even start at Duke. Some had a greater possibility than others, but those players were CERTAIN of roles on other teams. So they chose that certainty. And they got while the getting was good. Those certain roles would have gone to other players if they'd waited.
.
We've likely got a decent roster next year. A weak class was scared of that. We could easily see roles open up at C or PG. And Cole Anthony and Carey might see great landing spots, surrounded by talent, come May. At the least, 1-2 good grad transfers, or reclassifying players, might jump on roles available at Duke.
