Duke has been ripping us off for years. Under Cal they have not even tried to hide it anymore. It's like they have UK up on the wall as their blueprint for success.

If I were a high level recruit then going to a program that flops around on the floor on defense and spoons each other on the bench would be way down on my list.

What is Hilarious is that Coach K and even Coach Self always said they wouldn't recruit OAD and it wasn't for them. In the last couple of years that is the only way Coach K and Self recruit are the OAD because Coach Cal was getting all the Top 10-15 High School Players. Coach K knew at Kentucky and Coach Cal 's OAD's, UK would be at the Final Fours and competing for the Championship every year. That has been true with Coach Cal at UK now seven years and been to Final Four 4 times with a Championship and Runner-up!
Capel had to come back to daddy for a job, cause he couldn't cut it by himself, the whole duke family is like a bunch of spoiled babies begging their daddy for a job after they graduate.

I just saw K on live TV from his home doing an interview recovering from his surgery with Jay Williams. Interesting quotes to the say the least.
"Well Jay, at Duke we are a player's school first." Then K went on and said this "We don't just play college basketball at Duke, Duke is college basketball. Then ended with these two doozies. "From Pineville to Pembroke, North Carolina grandmothers and mothers from all over the state cheer and root on our Duke basketball team. We are the needle, Jay"

He graduated from West Point and served in the Army, so he is not a soft coward.
I'm not overly fond of Coach K, but graduating from a military academy, let alone getting through the freshmen year, is not something a soft coward is capable of.
Yep - and it actually started back in the late '90's. After Duke won back to back championships in '91-92, the bottom kind of fell out for Duke. The two years thereafter were the worst is K's tenure. I think '94 was the year that was so bad, K had it removed from his record and given to an assistant coach. [laughing]
At about that same time, Pitino and Kentucky were starting to dominate college basketball with high-flying, NBA caliber athletes.
When Duke recruited Maggette, it represented a radical departure from their typical recruiting. Maggette had baggage, he was an elite athlete who was very obviously going to leave early for the NBA. Duke had never had a player leave early for the NBA before Maggette. He also wasn't a particularly strong or committed student.
K changed because he knew he had to change or be left behind, and he changed because of Kentucky's success.
The Maggette recruitment by the way is why the fact the Duke skated on this one galls so many of us. Because Duke decided to get their hands dirty with Maggette after recruiting Boy Scouts for 20 years and being held up as a paragon, and they got away with it.

Some nerve those Dukies, how dare they have the gall to copy UK and go after the best players because only Kentucky should have the best players. I think Duke should only go after 3 star players so nobody will think they are copying. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Then why are you here? You seem so hellbent to tug at our pant legs and beg us for acceptance. You seem to think Duke is #1, so why bother coming to a Kentucky forum, dealing with fans who are beneath you and can't fathom your opinions?
Very true. You can't complain about what someone else posts when you're on "their" teams forum. A lot of fans post and visitors aren't going to agree with everything they see.
For the life of me, I can't figure out why this isn't a bigger sticking point with forums. I'd get into it with every Duke poster on their forum, defending Cal, talking about how we have more titles, hating on Coach K... what is that really going to accomplish?
It's why I've NEVER gone to another team's forum, not even to read their topics or thoughts on Kentucky. I won't change their mind, I'll just start trouble and get banned. But MOST importantly, I simply don't care what rival fans have to say about Kentucky..

I feel you. This is the first time I have even been over here. Word got out ya know. I know it will just turn into a pissing match if I said what I felt like saying to some of these comments. But like you said, it's not my place.
