Duke not afraid to play zone.

So much easier for young players to defend an area rather than chase and fight over screens and switch. It won’t effect their draft status. If Cal doesn’t play a lot of zone with this team we will lose a lot of games. Most good threes come from inside out. It is hard to do that against the zone.

Also looks as if Michigan State can't throw one in the ocean.

No. Recruits see Cal won't run zone and get them ready for NBA man to man. See recruiting results last few years.

Imagine zoning a team that can't shoot. What the hell does Michigan State have to do with Kansas?

The Kicky Boy zone. I guess when refs allow you to go Kung fu fighting on defense a zone might be indicated. We should play zone when the refs let us do that.

I hate Duke, but damn they look tough. Lots of offensive weapons and depth.

Every thread you start is a negative one, going back 2 years ago when you said we'd lose every single game the rest of the season after losing to Auburn. You are either not a UK fan or not one anybody would ever want to hang out with.

The John Cheney acolytes are back again.

It seems we have had some stellar defensive teams over the years. What the hell is this obsession with zone?
I get it can be a nice toolbox have in the box to throw at bad shooting teams and dicey playmaker but when and why did this become some kind or priority?

This is such a BS argument. You all act like running a zone equates to automatically giving up 50% from 3. I hate to tell you but a hell of a lot of teams win titles playing zone. A zone team can efficiently guard the perimeter. And, even if they do give up 3's. I'd rather give up 3's than layups. At least make them hit some damn shots.

Don’t play it all the time but mix it in.

Way more good defensive teams and champions as well have been man oriented.

Why folks are screaming to be soft and negate rebounding ability I haven't a clue other than SOMETHING to harp on.

We have had some outstanding defensive teams, this is the biggest non-issue ever.

This is not about playing good defense at all it is about bitching and whining.
