I was in Charlotte last weekend for lax tourney and noticed kids sporting Duke gear everywhere. Obviously there were kids wearing UNC attire but not even close to the amount of Duke stuff.

Is Duke taking over Charlotte with all the transplants?

Duke is the cool program for younger kids. Wasn't the case back in the day.I see the same, and I"m not even in North Carolina.

Having elite NBA players really helps.

Duke is on the rise in NC when I was in school (not that long ago) if we lost you didn’t want to go to school the next day. Now we’re deff catching up

Duke is cool, but it's still about 3-1 in favor of Carolina fans versus Duke fans. Maybe worse. Used to be just an ABC club, Anybody but Carolina. But unfortunately, Duke is thought of just as bad as the Holes by many now days. Success and many fans have caused this.

Agreed Pisgah, there’s a LOT more Duke gear down here at the beach now. Did my heart good, my daughter had a volleyball scrimmage at the High School the other night. They haven’t received their jerseys yet, they all came out with Duke stuff on, it was awesome.

Yeah, I live right outside of Charlotte and the area is still largely UNC. I went in an Academy Sports the other day and all they had was UNC clothing except for a NC State here and there.

BTW, Pisgah101....i love the avatar and the song!

Where are you located Tate? I grew up in Charlotte but live in Lake Wylie now.

I remember in '94 when Duke was in FF played in Charlotte. K was asked about Duke having a homecourt advantage and replied,
"No,Charlotte is a Carolina town." Still is really, though as Pisgah said we're catching up. Speaking of the ABC Club, I am a staunch member for life.

Yeah, it's bad here for sure. That ugly, sissy blue is everywhere.
I do the same thing QC to the clerks, or I move the Hole crap behind other stuff.

I won't order pizza from papa johns here because it has calapari's picture on the box. I REFUSE to give them my money. My wife thinks it's silly, but I'll eat Red Baron before papa Johns.....it's the principal of the whole thing! It's the principality I tell you!!

There's also a sports bar here that I used to love. I went there to watch the Duke - Butler game in 2010 and they closed at 7:00. I went to another bar across town, and they closed as well.....at SEVEN O'CLOCK! I am convinced it was so people couldn't come watch Duke win a title in their bar.....haven't been to either one since.

Should have made the easy drive up to Indianapolis for the game. Great memories there in 2010 and 2015, attended both final fours. Indy has been good to Duke.

I visited our new Academy Sports Store in town that opened around 9 months ago. Thought I would check out the gear or apperal and choose something but dissapointed to find hundreds of Cheats items, NC State items and even WF but they had one, I repeat, 1 Duke T shirt in stock. I don't think Duke is a household word in my part of the woods yet.
